Not necessarrily. Like Darren said he is very different from Blaine. For instance he curses like a sailor and is generally "rougher" around the edges. and while they share alot of the same qualities Blaine is younger than Darren and has a very soft mentality when he isnt performing. It makes sense that his voice is softer. Personally, I love that Darren goes to that level to distance himself from Blaine. It gives Blaine so much more character.

It's pretty amazing the way he became Blaine...they are so different Darren is goofy and Blaine pretty serious.loved how he transformed from Darren to Blaine and back in front of my eyes pretty amazing.gotta love Darren criss he is deffinetly the coolest and most talented guy I have ever seen!!!

I like how Darren "transforms " into Blaine, it kind of reminds me of the technique Christopher Reeves in Superman II when Lois finds out he's Superman. All he does is take off his glasses and straighten his posture, so simple and yet so affective.

Ok, I'm a huge Darren/Blaine stan. But I usually don't see that many differences between the two besides the obvious ones. (Gelled hair and preppier clothes etc.) BUT when he says "Yeah, I can" and then proceeds to become Blaine and raises his voice an octave, I was like "Ahh! It's Blaine!" It was so cool to see that like right in front of me. Darren, I will eternally love you. That is all.

I think another part of it has to do with Blaine being a genuinely "good" character with pure intentions. There's never really been a time where he was manipulative in a situation. He's also very oblivious in situations, to the point where it is almost childlike. He's not perfect, but he wears his heart on his sleeve and genuinely believes the best of people. So maybe Darren chose a voice to match that personality?
