but you have to realise the actors (Save for trent) are only there to get press. Dee-dee doesn't give a f**k about Emma. she only wants positive press because she's a famous actor.

Saw this here in Atlanta, still remains one of my favorite shows to this day. Happy to see it getting more attention now, but it deserved a longer run on Broadway

Love everything except the fact that lowkey the "just tell them you're gay" storyline isn't something that happens cause anyone who's gay knows that's terrifying? But daaaaaaaaaamn if this music and staging does HIT

I agree with this, like Emma should know how hard it was to come out and how hard it was even with people who werent family members.
@hollisrut.87594 жыл бұрын
@Megan Maclean élève yeah, that's a good point. I'm a bit new to the show and not sure if I completely understand the little details of the plot, so I guess I cant really speak about anything honestly lol.

It’s scary when it comes to family for me. When it comes to everyone else I don’t care. If they don’t accept me for me then they are not worth my time.
@yunicelennar76264 жыл бұрын
Only saw the movie, but when Alyssa was given some screen time to open up, I think it was made pretty clear that she has reasons to be scared and unwilling of comming out just yet
@belmarshall91034 жыл бұрын
but alyssa agreed to come out. she promised emma that she would. emma never pressured her, and it would have been different if alyssa had said from the beginning that she didn’t want to. but she agreed to do it and then abandoned emma last minute.

@@jamesnugent2213 I think both casts have redeeming qualities.
@jamesnugent22133 жыл бұрын
@@philspence3073 Sure, if you think so. The only member of the OG that I personally like (not better, but still good), is Angie. It's fine to have different opinions. I just prefer the movie cast a whole lot more. And, something else I've noticed is that background music is a really important thing for me. The original background music isn't intense or bass-y, it's light and bouncy. It especially bugged me in You Happened and It's Time to Dance. That's also a huge reason why I much prefered the movie. Anyway, to each his own. Have a good day/night! 🙂
@kl-14472 жыл бұрын
@@jamesnugent2213 The movie soundtrack backing is really good, all the instrumentals sound perfect. I think the bassy/intense thing might also be a slight stage vs film adaption thing. Because live, having the bass up a bit more sounds better and it's live so the intensity carries it forward. For film they can scale it back a lot more and still keep the same energy, and also have a lower energy since it doesn't need to be as "big" as it is on stage. Also something interesting about sound/music editing for films, they're sort of changing the way they're being done because of how people watch them (ie on devices with headphones rather than cinema releases or even just home TVs), so that also is a factor.

James Corden did it better. Its a lot more sass and enthusiasm
@p0lyxena4 жыл бұрын
This is an actual gay actor playing a grown man who's a little self-involved. Not a sassy gay BFF stereotype played by a straight man
@silvercyndaquil84724 жыл бұрын
James Corden was an embarrassment who shouldn't have been casted in the first place. The whole point of acting is to make it look believable. James Corden just used every gay stereotype he could and played it to the max which is really annoying because he's STRAIGHT.
@protetordaamymarch98914 жыл бұрын
@@silvercyndaquil8472 but the character is stereotyped, it's not an actor problem
@silvercyndaquil84724 жыл бұрын
@@protetordaamymarch9891 Except it is an actor problem. Yes, Barry is stereotyped, but it's in a way that makes sense. It's a noticeable stereotype but he's still human, has a personality, and is noticeably human. James Corden makes Barry into a literal character. All the personality of him is transformed into a flamboyant mess that's not human.
@ticktockbother64 жыл бұрын
James Corden did it way worse. He played a cheap and over the top offensive stereotype without any of the pathos the incredible Broadway actor brought to the part because he is actually gay.

Well that looked like REALLY bad amateur theatre. Crap acting.

well, its the pre broadway trial run in 2016, the broadway is 10x better
@paulskinner72454 жыл бұрын
@@ellerodriguez1441 it would need to be. Because that was shocking. Was it the same actors because they were awful. When it comes to singing I will give a slight edge to Broadway over West End but the acting and directing on Broadway is normally very weak compared to West End. And if you're only a good voice, might as well just download the cast recording.
