1:37 I think you meant to write "a > 0" in that slide. This affects your explanation in the last question at 16:40.

Thank you so much for your presentation. Your wonderful in how you explain things. I just recently came across a logarithm which I am having trouble solving. Maybe you know the answer? (5x -1)log(4) = xlog(19) = ? Can you explain to me the steps in solving this or do you have a video that shows more in depth?
@iitutorcom

+Netsurfer S step 1: 5xlog(4) - log(4) = xlog(19), step 2: 5xlog(4) - xlog(19) = log(4), step 3: (5log(4)-log(19))x = log(4), step 4: x= (5log(4)-log(19))/log(4), hyou may want to use you calculator to evaluate this. Hope this helps.

What ever happened to Inverse ftns. i.e. log base a is the inverse of raise to the power base a. Then explanation becomes -- Covert to index for -- Raise both sides to power of the log base. (one side cancels) -- left with expression to simplify. -- For log form take the log to the base of the index expression of both sides. Inverse ftns cancel -- simplify expression. No "this goes up there -- that goes down there stuff to remember" !!!!

log is just an inverse calculation of power. what's its application in real life?
@iitutorcom
@iitutorcom 8 жыл бұрын
+Lin Cha The most common area of its application is to find the number of period of exponential equation. Given the principal, interest rate and the mature amount, then log is a great skills to find the period how long it takes to reach the mature amount from the given principal. There are many applications for financial practices. Hope this helps :)
