Great film ... but it requires a complete suspension of disbelief, in that Gabriel would NEVER challenge the will of God. This is the angel of the Annunciation, after all. If you just set that aside, though, an incredibly enjoyable and often overlooked piece of cinema.

I think it was more he didn't understand why God no longer spoke to him. Without His guidance, all angels become lost children with no morality of their own because their creation preceded all notions of good and evil. He was trying to do something, anything, to get God to speak again. To be frank, the idea of God just abandoning His angels and refusing to even speak to them is an anathema to me. They aren't humans. They NEED Him, His guidance, His orders, or else they are nothing, as Gabriel indicated Satan is in his eyes.

Madge is played by Sandra Ellis Lafferty. She also plays the head nurse in "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". I thought I HAD seen her face before, but I wasn't sure. But after watching this, I realized it WAS her. That line, "suits me", and the looks she gives, are just chilling. The fact she is unperturbed, makes you wonder just how much sh*t Madge has seen while working there.
