This leads to a funny scene in my mind of the Monster picking out body parts for his “perfect bride” and just going for the biggest dump truck butt and Victor just looks at us like he’s on the office

Interesting thing about this song is that Victor actually gets on board with the idea. Thinking it his penance. In the book, he’s far more reluctant and indeed sabotages the final result himself.

Victor is a bigger monster than Adam, left his family and friends for his work. He knew of William's killer yet does nothing to help Justine or even tell his family to lock the doors and windows. He didn't even tell Elizabeth. Selfish, negligent, and always thinking himself as a victim. Also a moron too, since he's insulting an 8ft man who's faster, stronger, taller, and immune to extreme conditions. Edit: Adam isn't a good person either. He murdered people who related to Victor but had nothing with experimentation. Then developing a sense of entitlement on wanting a woman to love, yet want to force the lady to love him. He and Victor are both both monsters from their actions alone. Victor slipping away from consequences like a weasel while Adam is more a brutish man with a sick sense of wits. I go for Boris Karloff's portrayal of Frankenstein's creation due to being more misunderstood and naive.

I say they're both awful. Both had believed to have good intentions, but harmed people directly or indirectly. And when people try to call out on them being awful people, they go woe is me and are too angry and selfish to see how their harm is making others miserable. Neither have the moral high ground. Frankenstein is a narcissistic person that's arrogant and doesn't take responsibility for his transgressions. The monster while being pitiable murders people for revenge against his creator. Even those that did nothing wrong to him.
@KingNazaru4 жыл бұрын
@@fernandogonzales9240 Actually people have referred to the Monster as Adam for centuries. In the book, the Monster compares himself to Adam as Victor created him similar to God creating biblical Adam.
@danninmatthews56404 жыл бұрын
@@KingNazaru Agreed. 1931's version of Frankenstein is better.
@KingNazaru3 жыл бұрын
What a lot of people don’t realize is that both Victor and his monster are both horrible people. One is a narcissist who won’t take responsibility. The other is a murderer who is selfish in a different way and will kill innocent people to hurt his creator out of spite. A tale of 2 miserable people.

4:24 Where where it's due to the musical composer, and the script writer. This epic verbose duet is swift cut down back to Earth as a innocent woman is hanged all because Victor didn't want to admit to the true scale of his mistakes, and because the creature believed in "guilt by association."

Oh my god, YES!!!! This is an amazing animatic! Thank you for creating this. The Proposition is my favorite song in the whole musical, and it fills me with joy knowing this musical has gotten so much love. The Creature's yellow eyes (reminiscent of the novel) and the grin on Victor's face when he is reignited with the drive to create really steals the show here!

Maybe I am confused, and maybe its just me, but part of this song the second half shockingly seems triumphant? Like,The Doctor KNOWS this is a bad idea, but like the idea of doing it, or crossing that line one last time is so tempting. Is that the point? I guess if you only ask yourself if you CAN do something, and not if you SHOULD do something, anything is possible.
@MarioSMG64 Жыл бұрын
It differs from the book in that way, and honestly I think I like it more. In the book, Victor is against the idea but goes along under threat of death. Here, his hubris refuses to let him quit, and he actually uses Justine’s body in attempt to bring her back (trying to avoid the responsibility for her death).

Interesting thing I realized: when they are singing the "life everlasting, reanimation" part, Victor, Adam, and the choir are all just *slightly* out of sync. Victor is blind to everything but his own glory, Adam is solely thinking about having a wife to love him, and the choir (who kind of make me think of the Fates) know the story and know this will end badly
