Its also next to impossible to teach new players Paradox games since the guides are old/ contain DLC you may or may not have. The DLC adds so many new features and depth it overwhelms new players. for dedicated players its great but it makes Paradox games more and more niche and may reduce the prospective audience size willing to learn it.

at least in my experience, it's not hard. In 2019 my stepdad introduced me to ck2 and it was pretty easy. He just gave me a very bare run down like how stays work, claims, vassals, and armies. Didn’t start off in a big country, I started off in a small land in Ireland, and after our 3rd playthrough, I was doing better than him at times. Soon I started hoi4 and he gave the same explanation and it didn’t take long before I was doing well. Hoi4 is a huge difference in skill compared to CK but I still got the game down within a day.

Now is a bit more complicated plus your troops outta supply 24/7. For a new player it becomes hard to get good at the game, not necessarily learn the game, but there's just so much stuff and routes you can do that it's hard to be an enjoyable game for a long gaming session for example. @Nachoto2 жыл бұрын
The main problem is that every new DLC breaks something from the previous patch and that will stay broken probably forever. Recently in HOI4 the Danzig for Slovakia/Danzig for guarantees that used to gave you the polish corridor you have claims on now only gives the city of Danzig, since the state was split into two and devs didn't bother to fix it, when Battle for Bosphorus came out i think it was Germany who got a core on a random turkish province bc the state id changed but the events and focuses still use the old id. The Hungarian focus from Death or Dishonor was broken in La Resistance because since LR France guarantees all of your neighbors, so now they are more likely to reject demands, which leads to a war with a major power if you want to expand. I don't have a problem with new content, i have a problem with new content breaking older content, which essentially defeats the entire purpose of buying it since it will be broken by the next DLC.
@tony-te7gd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the old DLCs should be at the very least much cheaper, as they really dont stand up to modern standards. It makes no sense that some of the first hoi4 dlcs are comparable in price to modern ones, which add insane focus trees and mechanics.

When the Man The Guns dlc came out I couldn't get it and in all of my games USA were just going into civil wars and random ideologies and it stayed like that for such long time. I have mixed feelings toward Paradox DLC because they only give you extra features that should have already included from the beginning. And mostly for HOI4 or EU4, the workshop community already has something similar available. For example the railroad system before NSB already kinda existed in the Black Ice Mod. There were already some mods that allowed you in increase stats of Tanks. I don't remember the name it was a mod that starts in the 1860's, already had a feature for officer Corp system similar to NSB. Don't get me started in Focus trees. This is something that you could code in the weekend similar to what NSB has.

the biggest problem with the DLCs is the price. i'll bet that "only buy on sale" is tacked onto at least 75% of reviews that are longer than a single sentence on all the various DLC's store pages. the amount of content added does not equate to the price to get that content. No Step Back is $20, and base-game HOI4 is $40. NSB doesn't add enough content to rival half the content of the base game, it's not even close to a quarter. i guarantee the reviews for Paradox's DLCs would largely be "mostly positive" and up if the most expensive they ever were was $5.

I always wonder why every time a new DLC comes out that's universerly thought to be bad do influencers get quiet about it and say nothing, like is paradox paying them that much? They pay these KZbinrs and get them to say nice things about the dlc to get everyone to believe that everyone is just hating and the reviews are irrelevant. This kinda lowers my respect for the KZbinrs that do this and become paradox shells. I bought that 30 dollar new ck3 DLC and ignored the reviews because the KZbinrs that I watched praised the DLC and said that the reviews are just review bombs. They basically got these KZbinrs to run my pockets and rob me because i foolishly believed these shells. That new ck3 dlc is so not worth it that its not even funny, the dlc before that for example had way more content and features for half the price, not to mention its boring as hll and makes you wonder why they took this long to release something modders could have done in less than a month.

Reviewers usually get review keys, so they don't care about the price and review it as if it was free. People who don't have a ton of disposable income are the ones who feel burnt by paradox, that's why you see such a huge disconnect between reviews on KZbin vs Steam. Paradox isn't paying reviewers off, reviewers just ignore the price tag since the value you get for the price is going to depend on how rich you are.
@kilo-cr4ig2 жыл бұрын
@@cronchcrunch I have a problem with the fact that they never have a problem with anything that paradox does. This is what we got after waiting a year for them to finally make the game less dull. He's the main person I lost respect for. There's no reason for an addition to a series to be worse than the last version on launch. They do this stuff on purpose to try and have the full game behind 200 dollars of DLC, which is why I will never give them the benefit of the doubt. ck2 at the moment is way better than ck3 other than the fact that I'm burned out with ck2, so I have to play this inferior version.
