The mascot legendaries being with you early on seems like a pro to me? For over 20 years the mascot legendaries have just been a choice of what you want to have right at the end of the game, whereas now it's which one helps you and travels with you. They're actually involved in the game & story now rather than being tacked on at the end. And it's not like they join our party at the beginning, they're just rides. I imagine we'll get a chance to capture them at the end of the game.
@emperorcubone2 жыл бұрын

@@emperorcubone I agree, for me personally, I don't necessarily see getting access to the legendary Pokemon early as being an all around good thing, as it makes them feel less special, if you'll take my meaning. Having them be accessible so early just doesn't feel right to me, and it's definitely something that feels out of place in Pokemon since we've gotten so used to not being able to so much as even interact with them until later because of how powerful they are when compared to your average Pokemon of another description. So having them become a mode of transportation of sorts, although an interesting idea, really makes it feel less like they are powerful and elusive creatures you eventually get to meet on your adventure and have the chance to be able to catch and tame for yourself and more so gives your player character the vibes of being a special "chosen one", if you will, specifically because these powerful creatures decide to let YOU be the one to tame and form a special bond with them

I was a much bigger fan of Alola's reveal cycle than Galar's or even Paldea's so far, as I'm the type that enjoys knowing the Pokemon beforehand. However, I would not for a second want someone who wants to remain isolated from the new things until they have the game to be forced into seeing them early. As for the Tera Type gimmick, I believe that it does simply make the Pokemon monotype according to whatever their preset Tera type is. I imagine that they'll probably introduce some kind of universal move to allow Pokemon to always be able to use their given Tera type offensively, as that just makes sense. Notably Pokemon apparently do even bigger damage if their Tera Type matches up with one of their originals, so that will probably lead to this gimmick being strongest on certain monotype Pokemon.
@emperorcubone2 жыл бұрын
I very much appreciate you attitude; most people that don't care about spoilers seem almost gleeful to share them with those who want to avoid them, so thank you!! What I love so far is that: 1. The textures. Oh my god, I've always loved 3D games more than 2D (I am slowly beginning to play 2D pokemon games) but if it is low on quality and all the pokemon just look.. Like stuff toys. Just smooth, something you think you could hug, I always got a bit.. Eh. I could tell with SwSh and PLA that they were trying to add a bit more detail. Grimmsnarl (spelling?? XD) and a lot of the new Hiusian pokemon, Zoroark and Kleavor being the main two. They added weather texture in PLA which made me so unbelievably satisfied. In this game, (in the trailers at least) you can see the scales on Seviper, how fluffy some pokemon look, how shiny some look such as magneton and Sableye's gem. The legendaries, especially Miraidon looking so shiny, smooth, robotic. It is so fitting. 2. How we haven't been spoiled with too many pokemon so far. We've gotten less than 10 if you don't count the starters and legendaries which are obviously always shown before release. And apparently there is meant to be a lot of new pokemon! 3. Representation. Unlike other games, it was quite easy to tell what was going on. The past and future representation in the professors, legendaries, I'm sure we'll have some special version exclusive pokemon that may look futuristic or traditional. There is also this sense of modern mixed in too. 4. The terastal gimmick is something I LOVE. I love shiny things and the pokemon just glow so beautifully. Not to mention how amazing it will be in competitive. By changing the type, you can avoid an upcoming attack, make a pokemon who is strong but is just a bad typing (like ice, bug, grass, etc) into a pokemon that could dominate the world. 5. Getting some more diversity when it comes to costumes, hairstyles, etc! Gotta love that Game Freak is thinking about everyone out there! 6. Pokemon that are not Kanto are finally getting regional variants. Obviously, yes other pokemon from different regions have gotten there's. But it is mostly must kanto. I mean. Look at meowth. Seeing a Paldean Wooper made us all die inside from how it got it's first varient! Wooper growing up fast :') 7. There's been proof this game has been in the making for a long time now. Shirts in sword an shield have a purple and red flower, and that same shirt is what the protagonist in PLA wears when they first start out. Purple and red flowers are in Legends Arceus (I think I saw them) and in BDSP. Any cons in my opinion? 1. I'm a little scared that I won't like the in game graphics. PLA did disappoint me a little to be honest when I first saw game footage but once I got the game, I was in love! It may not be that good, it looks a but unpolished, but it honestly suits Legends Arceus, I completely forgot how much it threw me off. However, if I don't see those details on the pokemon when playing SV, I think everyone will be very disappointed and mad. 2. If it is buggy, I will get annoyed. If it has been being made a for a long time then any bugs should be sorted out. Maybe one or two is fine but a lot will annoy me. I have encountered a few bugs in PLA recently, like pokemon being invisible and you can't catch them. I didn't know if it was a glitch since it was an abra but it was eating a berry while invisible. I also glitched through the ocean floor once by jumping on braviary while getting hit by a water attack and it sent me through the floor, into the sky and then suddenly I was on the island where the Alpha Chansey is in Cobalt Coastlands. I was in the center of the map where I got knocked out. 3. I hope we do get to explore but I am a bit scared since the region looks really big and it is FULLY open world. 4. I am also worried about level scaling in gyms. I don't even like battling too but it scares me T^T. I think that is all I have to say! Sorry that it was long haha-

Okay, I'm going to say it. And I don't care how it makes me sound. I like random encounters in Pokemon games. I like knowing what to expect and not be guaranteed to find a specific Pokemon. The rewarding feeling you get after searching in the same patch of grass for 45 minutes before finally finding that Pokemon with a 1% chance is really something special. Wild Pokemon being exclusively in the open feels watered down and easy. You can see it from a ways away and they typically don't try to run away. If they made some hyper perceptive and required you to sneak carefully to encounter, that might work. But for them to just kind of stand there waiting for you takes some of the enjoyment out of the hunt for me.

My little theory as to why the previous two games were how they were is because they were a testing ground for some features. The Wild Area in SwSh to get a feel for overworld Pokémon in a 3d space, then the open world aspects in Legends Arceus to further improve that motif for Scarlet and Violet. You very rarely get new mechanics for games right on the first try and since it’s really never been done before in the franchise up until recently, they’ve had time to develop the system for a better experience.

Here's how terastallizing works: All Pokémon are capable of terastallizing. When a Pokémon is caught, they will have a Tera Type (probably determined by IVs or something) that will be inactive until they Terastallize. Some Tera Types will be rarer on Pokémon than others. For example, Eevee will usually have the Normal Tera type, but some might have the Flying Tera Type. Tera Types can be changed with an item. Once a Pokémon Terastallizes, they will remain their Tera Type until the battle ends. Unlike Megas, Z-Moves, and Dynamax, Terastallizing cannot be used again until you recharge at crystals around the map or heal at a Pokémon Center. If a Magnemite has the Normal Tera Type, it will become pure Normal type and gain STAB on Normal moves. If a Magnemite has the Electric Tera Type, it will become pure Electric type and gain a boost to Electric moves ON TOP of STAB. Pokémon with the same Tera Type as their original typing will greatly benefit more from Terastallizing than Pokémon with a different Tera Type from their original typing. There is a new move that every Pokémon can learn that will always be the same type as their Tera Type.

I think the open world thing might have something to do with how many badges you have. I believe you can fight the gyms in any order (or idk maybe that was just someone speculating) but I think the best way to implement what level cap gyms/routes should use would be to base them on your story progress. So setting checkpoints but you don’t have to do them in a set order, it just counts how many you have. So gym badges or trainers battled or even adding in story events like encountering legendaries so the levels can go up more once you beat all the gyms
@lillipup_tamer11482 жыл бұрын
They confirmed in the trailer that you can challenge the gyms in any order, so I think it is likely that this is how the game will be structured.

I for one have mixed feelings on the Legendaries coming to us so early, but here is what I think should happen: - We should get the legendaries early on, while having to unlock forms as we move through the progression of the region. However, they should be used for riding only - we have to “earn their trust” or something before being able to finally use them in some climactic battle, Anime-style. Honestly, I loved being able to get Latios so early in ORAS - he is one of my all time favorites, so it was great to be able to use him throughout the story, and he even surpassed my Blaziken to become my go-to Pokémon. Obviously, it was a little op, but if I have to choose between the two, I will remember the bond I had with a Pokémon much longer than a good, hard fought battle.
@bryce56802 жыл бұрын
I doubt leveling will be a problem. I think that they'll do something similar to botw, where the levels of pokemon in the environment will scale with either your Pokemons levels(making environmental pokemon within 5 levels of your party's average or something) or your gym badges, considering you can do them in any order. I also do think cooking will be a part of it considering one of the characters is described as a good cook in a trailer.

Terastalize replaces there type to give them a monotype. Any Pokémon can have any Tera type so basically any Pokémon can become any monotype. If you terastalize into your original type like magneton terastalizing into electric it will loose the steel type and steel type stab but since it terastalized into an electric it’s electric stab becomes stronger from a 1.5x to a 2x.
@TlocRevelc2 жыл бұрын
My theory is that terastilizing will change the pokemon's type to its tera type (being mono type) changing it's affinities to that type but still stacking with stab boost should it overlap with it's base typing. I'm guessing that the "-raidons" aren't going to be usable outside of transport until much later in the game. I'm thinking that we recruit them as a land mount pretty early on, and unlock the swimming, climbing, and gliding abilities as we progress. Unlocking every traversal ability then would grant us the ability to unlock and use their battle form. Obviously not confirmed, but I base this all on how the cutscene of the character meeting the mascot legendary has said legendary in a somewhat subdued and quadrupedal form with a distinct second cutscene shown of them changing into their more expressive bipedal forms.

So with the new trailer showing off Cyclizar here's my two cents on how they'll handle the legends in this game: While most students are given Cyclizar upon enrolling at the school the game starts at, the PC enrolled late and as such didn't get one. Feeling a bit of pity for the PC, Professor Sado/Turo gives the PC a Koraidon/Muraidon and explains their complex relationship to Cyclizar (my money's on a similar situation as Carbink and Diance). Later, at different points in the different stories you're given access to an item that allows Koraidon/Muraidon to do different things (Climbing, Swimming, and Glidding). So you get the Box Art Legendary pretty early on but still have to progress to do the other things we see in the trailer

Move styles from legends arceus should be the true example that gimics follow. It's not flashy, has no effect on the pacing of a battle, it works with every pokemon, and it's unlocked naturally for each pokemon as you play. Most will simply be random trainer battles, and the ability to quickly use a gimic without having to deal with cutscenes is a wonderful feeling

@@ChasingDragons420 Some Pokémon like Magneton I can kinda get since they're based on magnets, which have been around for at least 1,000 years in our world. Zacian and Zamenta I get since I think they're kinda based on Fenrir who's from Norse mythology. But what mythology from ancient times has motorcycles or bikes if you want to go down the mythological road?

I hope the pokemon we havent seen yet look better than ones weve seen so far (outside of the mascots and that narwhal), they all look a little too ‘cutesy’ to me so far. Where are the cool looking mons?

I kind of felt the same for Galar, but once I started playing there were cool ones popping up like Copperajah and even Coalossal, so maybe they're just waiting for us once we start playing?

I think they are only showing base forms which are usually cute and get “cooler” as they evolve

I disagree with your point at 1:48 having multiple mounts was cool in theory but it ultimately just made the game less enjoyable. The controls for switching mounts were awkward which made traversing around the map kinda annoying.
@emperorcubone2 жыл бұрын
That's not an argument against multiple Pokemon, it just means you need a better control scheme. Solve that, make it fluid enough, and it won't even be an issue...

What do you think about this now the game's out?
@shadowofthestarsdespair2 жыл бұрын
I think a mixture of world leveling and area leveling is needed. So like the beginning of the game would scale to you but when you at a higer level it will have a level cap for the areas scale to player value. At the end of the game areas pokemon can scale as high as you.

I think they will probably have adaptive leveling so the pokemon will always be a couple levels either below or above you probably no more 5 or 6 levels because I think anything above that would be too difficult

Me: Ok, I agree with these points, they all make sense and seem pretty goo- *#1: Terestralizing* ...curse those hats I will say though with the legendaries possibly being given to us early on, I hope they go with the storyline of the legendaries needing help regaining their true forms (where they stand/hover on two legs) and a matter of protecting them too, much like how some of the pokemon movies have had the protagonists help legendaries regain their full strength. There has been some speculation about the Legendaries coming to the protagonists timeline to help the third legendary, but that points more towards the DLC, so what they would do for the main story regarding that idea, Im not sure

What I like about Tera is how customizable it is. Every Pokémon has the ability to be one of the 18 Tera types. Unlike the other gimmicks, it’s collectible and individual. Maybe I’m just a completionist tho idk

@@emperorcubone If that's the case I'll be so disappointed, like seriously that is such a lazy idea, and would ruin the gimmick
@cielbie82512 жыл бұрын
@@helixsol7171 They might do that for balance reasons though I imagine. Fear they will destroy things by giving shedinja electric terra type or smthn. Thats a very pokemon-thing to do. Also gives them the oppotunity to lock certain terra-types behind gifts or DLC.
@EvanSawyer42 жыл бұрын
@@emperorcubone I disagree, letting every Pokémon be any Tera type is the lazy approach. They could've made it so for each Pokémon there was a certain number of Tera types based on the Pokémon's move pool so that new tailored strategies could arise that would shape a balanced meta. Instead, my guess is there will be a certain number of common Tera types for each Pokémon, but since every type (again, if they're being lazy) can be obtained through Tera raids, any thought and balance put onto those common types goes out the window. Best case scenario IMO is that there are a limited number of common AND rare Tera types for each Pokémon, which all have some thought put into them.
