I work on RVs and come across lot of fittings that won’t take grease A pick and or a hitting it with a torch (little butane one) usually get it flowing But sometimes they need replaced Doesn’t matter how many PSI they pump with a bad zerk won’t take grease It’s only a couple bucks for a pack of them. Easy to replace I troll the home despot site daily. Just picked up the m12 for $99 with a battery the other day. We use the Lincoln 12V at work

When I needed a 'powered' grease gun I search and asked others what they recommended. Most mechanics advised me to buy and use a high quality AIR POWERED gun if all of my greasing was going to be done in my shop/garage, and of course if I had an Air Compressor. Of course I do have an air compressor. I bought a Lincoln 1162 air powered grease gun which has a working pressure on the hose of about 6000 p.s.i. ( some battery powered models can develop upwards of 10,000 p.s.i., which is what Ross and Aiden may find more to their liking ) I have had zero problems with my Lincoln gun, and I've owned it now for about 4 years. I chose an air powered Lincoln simply because I have little regular use for a grease gun and thought that a battery powered gun would be sitting around, not used, for months on end, and wondered if the battery might be compromised from non use. Plus the Air Powered Lincoln 1162 was $140.00 and at the time, most battery guns were nearly three times that amount.
@RossOnTheLand11 ай бұрын
Hi Reg, I do agree with most of those. I do not have a full Shop Air compressor, we have been moving towards Battery, yes 2x the cost for sure. This grease gun is rated at 8000psi "rated" but not sure what the actual output is. As for batteries, we rotate them around with other tools so they don't sit long, but.. they do get used and therefore capacity does diminish over time, and they are expensive to replace.

Hi ,thanks for info on the Milwaukee 12v grease gun. Been thinking about it for a while, but price seems a little high for me. Will be interested in your update and if ever a good sale, may go for it. Now matter how hard I try, half the grease in the fitting, the other half- all over me and the tractor - Ha Ha! Had two small snow storms in December, but all gone well before Christmas. Expecting about 6 inches this weekend here in central New Hampshire.

Hello! Glad it was a useful video! It beats the manual pump for sure! I think if you wanted to get a grease gun, maybe opt for the M18 version as it has a few more features, I will be using this one for my tractor, implements and ZeroTurn mower in the summer. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The end of the grease gun line, part that attaches to the grease zerk. On some of those fittings you can rotate it clockwise or counter clockwise to make it fit tighter or looser on zerk. Also in the cold months I keep grease gun with the grease in the laundry room or where it’s warm, it makes the grease much easier to pump.

Nice piece of kit, Ross. The Milwaukee Fairy backed a truck up to my house this Christmas! Tools, batteries, Packouts...I'm swimming in black and red! 👍 A grease gun was not part of the haul, although my needs are met by my Lube Shuttle. Still, I can't help but think that that Milwaukee electric should be developing significantly more pressure than a manual one. My novice brain feels like the issue is more likely the zerk or old grease than issue with the gun's pressure. Is that you take as well?
@RossOnTheLand11 ай бұрын
Oh nice! Milwaukee Christmas to you. I am hoping my issue is that the grease inside the auger was too cold and sluggish to push. I think I'll let it warm up and then try pumping more grease into it. If that doesn't work, I'll replace the zerks.. cheers.

Happy New Year Ross & family. Are the feet on the grease gun magnetic? I use the black moly grease from CTC. It holds up in the cold and heat when I use it in my "hand powered" grease gun. We have a bit of snow here , at the other end of the valley. Back in the pit, where we plow the road, we have two lines of snow bordering the road. Looks kind of neat. I am okay if we do not get any snow. Take care and stay safe. PS: looking forward to the big video on your water line.

Happy New Year Ross! Nice Christmas present. I have been using my Milwaukee battery grease gun for 5 years and been extremely happy with it, no issues with the gun. I did change the coupler with a LockNLube coupler. The diameter is smaller and it locks on the zerks better. The Milwaukee coupler was too large in diameter to insert into one of the tractor recessed zerks. I can't remember if it was on my BX backhoe or my LX.

Howdy Ross.. I was excited to see this.. I am old school and just can’t justify spending that kinda money on one.. But I am close to pulling the trigger.. I would buy a Ryobi brand cause the battery platform I have the most of.. I love the lock-and lube tip.. I am no expert but I have just a few years experience with heavy equipment.. hahahah So some fittings are just plain tough to get grease in unless you turn them a little but sometimes you just can’t.. I was at a garage that had an air one and man. That one could push any fitting … I have no idea what the psi rating was.. Most guns now tell you the rating.. The one you got and the Dewalt is pretty high.. That is why you get grease when you take it off.. And that’s why the hose is thicker.. Still when you change the tip and and that gun is going to be a great time saver… And yes the type of grease you use is the key to not leaking… Ok I have blabbed enough. Thanks for sharing.. Cheers..

You came across two separate issues with this new gun. One, the battery you used is too small. The M12 XC3 battery pack is far more suited for this gun and will supply enough capacity to maintain gun pressure. The second issue may be with a plugged fitting or blocked grease passage that will not allow the grease to travel as it should. I have the same gun and did notice that the lower battery capacity makes a big difference in the runtime and pressure of it.
@RossOnTheLand7 ай бұрын
That's definitely my experience as well. I want to try the M18 version or at least maybe the 4.0 M12. And I'll have to look at the zerks and see about clearing the old grease. Thanks for the idea and commenting.
@Azeryen6 ай бұрын
As a professional forklift technician using this grease gun for the past 5 years in the field, I recommend putting a larger capacity battery on the M12 as well as a Lock N Lube connector. I still run into clogged fittings, some of which require using a grease joint rejuvenator or manually digging out the grease channel. It's not bad, but the M18 is 3x as fast and can pump a specific number of times (great if you know how many pumps a specific fitting takes like a load wheel).
@RossOnTheLand6 ай бұрын
Ya this is fine for most of my needs, and only came across 2 that I struggle with. I will try putting in a bigger battery for sure.
@Azeryen6 ай бұрын
@@RossOnTheLand if I can make a recommendation, Lock N Lube also sells a pressure relief valve for the hose to release pressure from a plugged zerk fitting. After literally blowing apart a cheaper Chinese grease coupler I was testing and nearly breaking one of my Lock N Lube's jaws, that is also another thing I would recommend when using an electric / pneumatic grease gun. She's still going strong after all these years!
