I was at Mass at a Benedictine monastery and had a vision of a multitude of souls in fire. They were pleading to me to pray for them. At first, I thought this was a vision of hell, but I realized these were the souls in purgatory. After I received communion, a man placed a card of St. Gertrude the Great on my seat. The card had the prayer for the Holy Souls in purgatory. This was a divine revelation. Now I pray the prayer of St Gertrude the Great at every mass after the consecration of the Eucharist. The souls in purgatory need are prayers, especially during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

I’d love some help… I’m a new Catholic. I love the faith deeply. Yet I feel deep sadness & grief that purgatory is real. I feel my love for God being strained. How do I reconcile this? How do I see a God who loves me?

I hope someone has some words of consolation for you and will chime in...first, I would suggest that you look into this further with a priest and and Fr.Mike's videos on Purgatory (he's on KZbin.) I think most of us Catholics struggle with Purgatory. But I try to remember it's not about me, it's about Him. And what I struggle to understand now, I will understand 1000xs better when I'm standing before Him. I won't want to go to heaven until I am free from all stains of my sins. I just released a new video yesterday--watch especially the last story on the nun that faced God at her death.

I don’t understand. Purgatory is an *example* of God’s love. Only perfection can enter heaven, and few, upon death, are so perfect that they would need no purification whatsoever. Yes, Jesus’ Blood cleanses us from our sins, but it doesn’t automatically take away the inclination toward sin, and as long as even the slightest inclination is there, the soul has not attained the kind of perfection that entrance into heaven would require. It’s because God loves us that He permits us to be purified after death. (Despite what Protestants who don’t understand the doctrine might argue, Purgatory is not a “second chance,” an allowance to live loosely in this life and somehow make up for it in the next.) Even C.S. Lewis, who wasn’t Catholic, believed Purgatory was not only necessary but desirable. Who of us, he argued, who have traveled a long, dusty road to visit a king wouldn’t need a place to clean up before being ushered into the royal presence?

While I am not one to offer you the kind of explanation that you are seeking, I can offer you this. Having doubts and questioning what you hear is normal. I pray for guidance and answers to these questions. Jesus said ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find. Be humble and not too stressed about your having doubts. God will most assuredly give you the answers you seek if you know how to interpret his signs. I don’t get a clear vocal answer, I get signs. They could be a conversation you overhear in church, a KZbin algorithm, or opening the Bible and finding you just happen to be read in an answer to your question. In case you don’t have the Catholic catechism I am including the link below. I was raised Catholic and became Lutheran (conservative Missouri Synod) about 35 years ago. My mother was Lutheran and became Catholic (very devout) to marry my father. We call ourselves Catherans. I feel the Lutheran Church is lacking too much of the Catholic faith but I still have an issue with some things that my heart just can’t accept so I am not returning (yet?). I read pre-Nicean writings to see what the early church was teaching too. I wish you all the Blessings God has to offer. My life is so far beyond what I deserve I know God loves me and has blessed me with this life. Knowing that I can’t see how my minor concerns or questions are fatal. Relax, pray, and educate yourself whenever and wherever you can. The Holy Spirit will guide you and that you can trust in! usccb.cld.bz/Catechism-of-the-Catholic-Church/12/

@@Kjt853Purgatory is to remove the stains of sin from your soul. Your sins are already forgiven. When you get to purgatory the inclination to sin is gone. You don’t sin more in Purgatory or in heaven. I have been to the other side more than once so you don’t need to be afraid dear.

Could someone clarify for me? There is an online priest who says that all these people think are ghosts are demons. He says demons are everywhere, but I didn't think this could be the case. If a property is properly blessed and you have sacraments placed in your home. He maintains that demons can breeze in and out like angels can, but I didn't think that this was possible

If you are not pious there is chance

That can only happen if you don’t stay pious in your faith dear. You can bless your home with holy water regularly at least once a month and say prayers for blessing it. You can also get some salt blessed by the priest and shake it around your property and bless your house and yard. satan likes to come bug me from time to time in my dreams and through the window or door. I just ignore him and I pray. The evil one and the demons love to come bug people that are close to Jesus Christ/God. Don’t let it worry you. Just keep praying!

Why is purity and modesty always seen as a female issue. It applies to both male and female surely
@geraldineekhator5428

It does dear. It’s associated with females easier than males for some reason is why. I think because women are usually the most undressed in society.
