My only suggestion is some markings on top where the butt pivots so you can remember where your settings are and so you know you have it dead straight without relying on your eye.
@tillysgunstocksАй бұрын
Good shout mate, a scale would be a nice idea. A bit like the butt hooks have for height and the scope rails on the 10m rigs. I'll be sure to forward the idea. I'll say it was mine 😆😆😆 😉

I had a go with a 9015 at the range recently and the trigger was sublime. Is the Ali XTi in the same ball park?
@tillysgunstocksАй бұрын
Yeah I've got both the red xti and my 9015 feeling the same. Both can go much lighter than is safe for outdoor target rigs 😬 The trigger sears are massive in the xti compared the 9015 which makes them pretty robust😉.

@ thanks for the rapid response. The new XTi is most certainly on my wish list for benchrest.

The chassis layout definitely opens up the chance to offer it tailored to more disciplines and users requirements, maybe one day we can fully configure a rifle online..now that would be amazing 🤯

I can appreciate the engineering behind it, but there is way too much adjustability in it for me. I wouldn't know where to start and can't see my level of shooting benefiting from it. Definitely one for the serious accurate shooters in my opinion.
@tillysgunstocksАй бұрын
I definitely think a set up guide and some baseline settings will be useful down the line mate. I reckon the most important thing though is it'll now work for all the disciplines that don't need an adjustable hamster. Shot it this morning prone at 50m and gelling well with it so far. Probably going to go for some higher scope rings though like the red one runs. It turns out I'm not as flexible as I was 😆
@careyturner7951Ай бұрын
Is the shoulder pad working on a ball joint system? It would seem to me that with the level of adjustment available that it is possible to get the shoulder pad not sitting square on to the shoulder

Shoots as well as my S400 and HW98 😉 I dunno how they can sell enough of those to make a profit especially with all the R&D needed?

Flagship stuff seldom makes a profit, it's usually funded by the bread and butter models😉 fun to see it all coming together though and more choice for us 😀

I am a HUGE fan of Air Arms....I was from when they were Sussex Armoury with their Jackal! ....still want one! I have an FTP 900, TDR..510XS I believe.....Pro Sport and TX200.....BUT that alu stock version is not my cup of tea at all. I have a Steyr Challenge LG110 FT and the grip looks exactly the same....but the front of the chassis is rather bulky and strange in form as is the blocky stock. Doesn't seem to do any more than many other fully adjustable alu stocks in my humble opinion. Sorry Air Arms, not trying to rain on anyones parade. 😞
@tillysgunstocks18 күн бұрын
It's an interesting one really. It's actually pared back a lot compared to the Steyr chassis. The fore end is much more slender, it is primarily designed to use the factory adjustable hamster, I made up the black fore end piece to better suit the shooting on the channel here. Grip wise,yeah you're correct that's because anatomically speaking us humans are much the same so the form factor is similar. The factory AA grips though, feel very very different to a Steyr grip. They're much more supportive but not as restrictive on your wrist position as some are 😉

@@tillysgunstocks Thank you for your comprehensive reply.....I wasn't trying to be negative or derogatory, I am a big AA fan and collector...collect more than shoot..lol! I am actually in the process of designing with a friend who has a great CNC machine shop, an FX Airguns based chassis...for the DRS platform and maybe Impact parts....so I understand how difficult it is to be original and innovative. It's much more difficult and complicated than most imagine, and cost due to the ridiculously low production costs in China is a big issue. Good luck with the development Sir!! 🙂
@tillysgunstocks17 күн бұрын
@@simonspain6080 it's not so much about being innovative or original when working within the confines of a factory offered part. Everything has been done before.. twice.. in the aftermarket and the custom shops around the world. What I can tailor build for my customers would be absolutely impossible to do in a factory spec configuration. The mad grips and parts I build specific for that person aren't designed or sized to be used by anyone else so practically useless for anyone other than who it was commissioned for. You only get one chance to make a great first impression when picking a factory rifle up so it has to be paired back enough to offer all the adjustment needed but sized so it can be used by 90% of people. That's why It doesn't have a mad offset thumb up grip for instance. That's never been offered on a factory ft rifle,but the sizing and geometry is so critical it wouldn't work for most people. I can make you a set but a factory offering.. not wise really. Same with things like the micro fine adjusters you'll see on the likes of the anschutz precise chassis. Great for disciplines with the same shooting position but absolute nightmare on disciplines where you might not take 2 shots the same stance over a full season. Same with the weatherproofing aspect. The hardware on this is laid out to deal with the mud,rain snow whatever you can throw at it. All the micro adjusters are a trap for dirt and crud and moisture. I didn't sort the overall styling of this chassis but did have a lot of input in the overall geometry, the woodwork and the grip mounting arrangements. I've done a load of development work for similar chassis stocks you'll see on the DRS. They're easy in comparison.. if you want to really break the mould the grip and associated mounting options are where you'll find a niche. Do it properly and bin off the ar grip mounting and you'll sell a ton. I can run a full development program for you... Cost you though 😉 Cheers mate 😎

@@simonspain6080 I dont often get to talk about a lot of my work (too many ndas) you can probably tell 😆 There's a lot lacking in the aftermarket chassis world right now,everyone's just copying the MDT silhouette and bunging Arca rails on it all. You got to remember that air based disciplines are much more dynamic that you'll see in a lot the firearms world so the gun fit side of things needs to be quite different and then there's the fundamental difference between the air and live round stuff that nobody talks about.. put me and my wife on a nice warm Spanish fishing beach and I'll tell you all about it 😉

Absolutely not mate, I love the 9015 as I've had it for so long now it fits me perfectly. I was kinda surprised to set a new pb with the red xti tbh. I thought that I was doing ok until that point. The 9015 is a mega test rig too on the channel.

Yup, a little unbelievable the film clip I saw, zero recoil at the rifle for a start, even with rigorous ballistics calculations beforehand, you can only base air pressure/moisture content/temperature, and any windage on a forecast. World Class Benchrest Shooters need 7 minutes of sighting and zero before the first 7 minutes timed card, and even the timed card has a sighter plus five scoring rounds, and conditions may mean that a tight group is all that is possible, rather than hitting the centre of the target. Based on the film clip I wouldn't pay to see the film.

To be fair I've seen some poorly adjusted and the original red one did need a little fine tuning and a de grease,the new action is way more subtle in its shot cycle than the early action was.
