Somehow one of the most unintentional 'funny' horror games back in the day. Also Galerians also seems to inspire a French animation called 'Code Lyoko', Rion's design reminds me of Jeremy Belpois and Aelita Schaeffer. Interesting Aelita also have this similar 'Anger Points' power. Great playthrough review. Extra points for the Garfield in the intro. 😸

This game was such an iconic part of my childhood, I immediately knew what you meant when you mentioned "psychic damage" and "that one puzzle" (once I figured out the door puzzle can be solved by saying "shave and a haircut" I never failed it again, if that helps anyone else). I feel like the only way I was able to beat it the first time back in the day was because I had a GameShark at the time, because of how easy it is to make your saves unplayable if you're not careful. I had no idea it was made by like 20 people, but that would explain a LOT. Also this + the Lem character design appreciation reminds me: Several years ago me and some friends made Galerians cosplays for a convention. I dressed as Rion while another friend dressed as Dr. Lem, and we made a whole bit out of it. Since he couldn't fly back to his state with the cane, he left it with me, so now I just have a cane with a baby shoe attached to the end of it and I can never bring myself to get rid of it. It's one of my most priceless possessions that people would sometimes ask me about, like "Why do you have a cane with a baby shoe?" and then I can talk about Galerians like the loser I am. Either way, I'm happy to see an hour long video about Galerians in the Year of Our Lord 2024. It's a flawed masterpiece that's still very dear to me.

A few things that stood out for me. 1. The disembodied voice that says "I'm scared" to a panicking boy currently strapped to a table and being injected with goo by a pair of heavy-duty robot arms. A real 'You think YOU'VE got problems...' moment. 2. The eerie way the cast seem to be half asleep while talking. 3. At 21:40 the evil steering wheel from Wall-E just chillin' at the end of a corridor. 4. Everyone trying to tough-talk the kid who's spent the day incinerating everyone he's met. 5. Drug dealer trying to hide in a hotel, behind a door that looks like it's been stapled to the wall with rebar. 6. Rion staring daggers at the world. 7. Crunchy floor is best floor. 8. The climax of the game taking place in front of the bloody Daemonculaba! (Don't look it up!) 9. Denied eldritch jubblies by the blockatiels, damn them! Also best videogame fridge: The one from Fallout 4 with the kid inside who's been in there for over 210 years and HASN'T gone insane!
