Level IV plate I prefer the Monoclete plate instead because it is polymer which has a better destructability stat than ceramic, so despite having less durability on paper, it still takes roughly the same ammount of rounds if not even more to shred the plate, plus it lighter and repairs extremely well

So for the armor, it doesnt actually act like armor where it is visually, they just divided the hit-boxes on the armor. This also means that you can live because of a situation like that. Say you get shot in the eyes hitbox while wearing bulletproof glasses, but it doesnt hit where the glasses are, it would still have the chance to reflect despite not touching the armor. Often times this also means armor that protects the stomach might look as though its not protecting you, but it is

I personally prefer the Thor Concealable Vest. It is very lightweight, has slots for side plates, decent coverage and level three (!) Aramid. All for like 60/70k with a barter from Ragman LL2 after you do like two tasks, or for a little more on the flea market if you're lucky, and they leave the plates in. The level three soft armor is the selling point for me here and the reason why I take this over your recommendations with throat protection. Level 2 Aramid on your throat protects you from like 1 buckshot pellet fired by a scav. If a PMC hits your throat, it's over anyway, as by now everyone is firing armor with over 20 pen, which has 90%+ chance to pen class two. Level two Aramid around your throat may save you from one bullet from a scav in one very specific situation, level three Aramid, not only covering your vitals where your plate isn't, but also being placed behind the plate to maybe catch the bullet after it lost pen and damage from hitting and penning your plate will save you way more.

I run the thor armor most of the time. It can take gzhel back plates on the front and back. Aswell as universal sapi plates. So I have a tier 5 armor with tier 3 insert. Also craft pbp 9mm rounds in hideout. Ive been strictly running a drippy modx m700 and a p226r with a surpressor and reddot and never run out of m62 or pbp rounds. They both kill quite easy.

I deplated a Zabralo that I got as a quest reward and put it in a THOR. I haven't yet ran the T6 result but it's probably my strongest armor if I'm being honest with myself.

the Arms Arma plate carrier is not the only craft you can use to repeatedly make the T5 GAC plate, there is one you can obtain through another Ragman quest (Sew it good part 4) called the 5.11 Tactical TacTec plate carrier however it's about an hour longer to craft. It still requires you to have the one plate but at the least it's likely much easier to complete Sew it Good part 4 than for the quest needed for the Arms Arma. Doesn't come with sideplates but it's cheap enough where the rig alone basically covers it.

I know of the 5.11 TacTec craft, and I currently use it right now. But in terms of cost, time and reward the AACPC is the best theres is. The TacTec craft is great to use while you try to unlock the CPC though.

The TacTec is the cheaper craft. It doesn't use up the sewing kit like the Ars Arma does. Haven't checked sell to Ragman price for empty Ars Arma yet but it'd have to be 70k to offset cost of sewing kit.

@@BarryEFT yeah, just did the price check. Armor is 50k sell to Ragman, side plates are 40k+ total sold on Flea. So long as the price of sewing kit stays below 40k you make money. Aramid is 15k each when crafted with Ragman PACA. Ripstop is 35k for 2 when crafted with scav vests from slickers barter under 12.5k slickers price.

I honestly believe the protection osprey is worth it. Level 3 armor on the shoulders and neck and all around the torso is amazing

Armor does not cover what it visually covers, it only covers what it says it covers in the dropdown menu. BSG just added a plethora of new hitboxes to give the illusion that it covers what it visually covers. This is was noticeable through the ZHUK Press armor early in the wipe where BSG forgot to designate some of the hitboxes as armored, and thus the armor was bugged and bullets ignored the plate. This difference can still be noticed with some helmets and helmet upgrades. Airwingmarine made a good video on helmets, and he makes a note of it there.

A big part of the testing was verifying this. And I made a point that BSG claimed something that wasn't true. A lot of big KZbinrs out there still don't understand this though. They just read the patch notes and called it a day.

Ever since I started running rigs (specifically CPC) my surviaval rate went up, sure it doesn't withstand as much as others and ha litttle aramid cover, but that doesn't matter if you're getting hit less because you're more mobile, slap the 0.9Kg lvl 5 plate on front, monoclete lvl 4 on back, lvl 5 sides, aramid doesn't do much except for shotguns anyway, you will survive more against pmcs on trade of being a bit more prone to die to a scav with a shotty, ARAMID hitbox is the same for the differwnt parts across all armors apparently as long as the specific part is listed in the armored areas list, and plates have their own hitbox, best armor is to not get hit on the first place

Free extremely lightweight class 5 plates via the Ars Arma rig craft make that the no-brainer choice of plates imo. So really the only question is what your budget on the rig to put it into is. BSGs statement sying that body armor only protects what it visually covers only applies to the PLATES, not the soft armor. No plate protects the armpit, but plenty of soft armors do. And since the sideplates mostly cover the stomach hitbox, not the thorax, imo its questionable wether they are actually worth the extra cost and weight. A blacked out stomach isn't lethal after all, arguably it's worth the risk to leave it less protected.

In the patch notes it reads "Body armor protection is no longer uniform. It now depends on what areas the body armor visually protects. For example, no body armor protects the armpit area". THEN there's a separate line that reads "Added separate ballistic plate zones on the character, visually matching the location in the body armor". There is ZERO protection to your armpit, and they said that "Body armor", not plates, have their own zones to match visually. I think they just need to get their crap together is all. As far as budget rigs to put this in, Kirasa and Press are my go too. They do what they need to and cost nothing.

The western style plates cover more of the upper thorax near the shoulders than the eastern diamond shaped plates. Anecdotally, I have noticed that this makes a huge difference so I won't run the press vest or Gzhel if I don't have to.

I disagree with the Elaphros plate. The Monoclete’s have served me much better as they are not ceramic, lighter and have less ergo penalty. They are also available reasonably on the flea for 20k roubles.

i do agree with the video by using lower level armor with higher tier plates, but from my experience the kirasa-n is around 40-50k average price, and the barter for the lvl 5 russian plates/nato aswell are around 40-50k with the clock barter and the sas one, so it rounds to about 120k on the lowest end possible, but at that price you can buy a defender 2 using a sledgehammer using ragmans barter for it that comes with lvl 5 plates lvl 3 armaid and good overall coverage, it does consistently come back since it's not the lightest and smallest vest ever, but it weighs less than the bigger armors around 10-11kg

The graphic at the first timestamp is a 6B23-1 which does not use standard Russian plates. That and the Korund-VM are the only armors that have that type of front plate, which in my testing I confirmed covers those areas highlighted in the graphic. And I saw the typo, oh well. Also if you hover over the armour areas dropdown, you can see that some carries offer more protection than others. some have thorax listed while others only have front and back listed. I assume that indicates better coverage, instead of just looking at the soft armour areas below.

Two corrections which are pretty important, IMO. The osprey you can buy from ragman is level 4 plates and level 2 soft armor, so not at all the same as the PK4 barter protection variant. The one you can get from pk4 costs 135k, as the drives go down to 45k each many times a day. With this in mind, I have a question: These level 5 combined plates in the peacekeeper barter are better than the ceremic ones you can barter for after insomnia, right? Cause if you get the sas drives for 45k, and then buy the osprey, sell the armor itself back and keep the plats, you're paying the same or less and getting better plates? Just a thought.

As far as cost efficiency goes YES it would be cheaper to barter for the Osprey Protection variant than for a separate plate. BUT getting the barter for the Osprey is much more difficult than the SAPI Level III+. Not to mention the TallCom plates it comes with are IMO worse than the SAPI plates. I'm heavily considering weight this wipe and every Kg matters to me. It's more often the heavy person making loud footsteps dies first over the guy who weighs less.

@@BarryEFT Weight thing is fair, but how does durability work now? Is 50 dur ceramic and say combined materials both the same? I don't know. Weight is a very fair point, which is why I take these plates out and run a rbav or something with them (I use red rebel a lot, use armoed rigs) cause I want to stay underweight badly. For me it's secondarily to do with sound, but mainly to do with inertia, as I feel the difference between even 28kgs and 30kgs is ENORMOUS.

Actually, my issue was mainly with getting a gac plate so I could continue crafting tactecs/arma rigs, but I feel kinda dumb now, cause turns out there's a barter on level 4 ragman - 3 roler watches for a level 5 armored rig with these plates in it! I also didn't know the weight diff was 0.9 vs 3.5kgs. With this information in mind (availability at ragman 4) I'm 100% only crafting these now, thx for pointing this out, I'll tell my friends too so they don't stomp around. It seems to me the meta thnig to do now would be to the take the osprey rig due to the arm armor and level 3 soft armor and just put in the light plates? I need to do some more testing on how good the soft armor is. @@BarryEFT

Overall a solid video! Only thing I'd really disagree with would be the importance of class 3 aramid. Personally I think it's worth the additional cost as it will eat a decent number of scav bullets that would otherwise go straight through class 2. With that in mind, I think the osprey protection is one of the best deals in the game right now, class 3 aramid all over, level 5 plates, and solid rig space all for 150k.

Get a Thor armor, sell plates if it had the default ones in it Buy the cheapest MMAC or Banshee you can find on flea that has the plates still in, they're the lightest class 4, best repairing plates. Put those in the Thor. Sell the empty MMAC/Banshee to Ragman for around 20K. Add class 5 side plates from PK lvl 3 to the Thor. You get a lightweight armor (6.4 kg, down from over 10 with default plates) with good protection, great repairability and it seems to always come back from insurance. Plus it doesn't make you look massive if looking inconspicuous matters to you (I think it's good to not look like a high priority target gigachad). Easily my favourite thing to run.

The CPC and Osprey aren't at all comparable unfortunately. CPC covers "Front Plate, Back Plate, Sides" Osprey covers "Stomach, Thorax, Back, Sides, Throat, Back neck, Shoulders" This means that the CPC only provides extra protection in the same regions the plates do, even less coverage the trooper. The Osprey rigs are insanely heavy because they cover basically everything, comparing the two is kind of like suggesting that the Slick is a good alternative to a Redut - they do completely different things Fun fact for those who may be interested! The GAC 3s15m plates that come in the CPC and TacTec can be reliably farmed through crafting the rig, and are some of the best plates in the game, being 0.97kg and T5. They make an excellent add-in to the Osprey, leading to a reasonably heavy armored rig and huge protection. Best of both worlds IMO

It's not meant to be comparable by similar coverage but as an alternative. Yes it may "cover" more than the CPC, but with its low HP distribution and being class 2 aramid AND weighing 6Kg it's just not good or worth 150k. If you want coverage like that you're better off with a Gen4 assault. The CPC has more aramid HP and it has side coverage, which is way more than a trooper offers. I never said the CPC was perfect but for a tac rig it sure is better than an Osprey.

@@BarryEFT I think we may just have different priorities. The trooper (Not that I use it) covers the whole thorax/stomach, while the CPC only covers the plates and sides. To me, double covering the plate region is essentially worthless. I put T5/T6 plates there anyways, so I'll take wider coverage any day of the week. I also notice you use flea pricing, and at 150k the osprey is atrocious. But I've been running both variants for much of this wipe, and they're easy to get if you watch the restocks. I built up a reserve of 20 or so as soon as I hit PKIV and just top it up occasionally when I get under 15 rigs. I'd never pay 150-200k for just the rig

This is a very good tactic that can save your life. You can also swap you plates with a dead PMC if you're willing to drop yours. Yours will come back in insurance and he won't see his again.

I think a month in it's still too early to say lvl 3 aramid isn't useful. Here's just some popular rounds that wont pen lvl 3 consistently. PST 9mm, SOST 5.56 outside 100m only has 18 pen instead of 33 meaning it consistently gets absorbed by lvl 3. PS or below 5.45 rounds. There are definitely still players stuck on those ammos, or not wealthy enough to run the higher end crafted ammos. I never see anyone mention that SOST is not going pen PMC armor at range. The pen value pretty much turns into an m856 round with only 80% of the flesh damage.

Crazy how you prefer the AAPC over osprey. No neck protection on AAPC and since your neck is an extension of you head now its very important to cover. Not only that but you get arm protection to eat some damage before it hits torso. Osprey makes you tank rounds.

Between price and weight yes I prefer it. If you want to use the Osprey I can only recommend the protection variant. And with the current state of the game that extra armor coverage is not worth the price. If you're getting sprayed at by 7.62 PS and they're hitting arms I promise it's not doing anything to help. It only helps with scavs and timmies using trash ammo that can't pen or destroy your armor.

Been using osrpey consistently for past week aswell as others to see how I survive and I tank twice as many rounds as a normal do with korund, AAPC, or tactec. The Monoclete costs more requiring you barter a Press Pass worth 32k and has 5 less durability than the Elaphros. The weight is less but not significant enough for me to recommend it over the Elaphros. It is a close second though and I often use them when I have a spare pass laying around.

@@BarryEFT monocletes run for 20 - 25k on the flea commonly, so they are the identical in price. Elaphros plates are made of ceramic, the worst material, so it having 5 more durability does nothing. Statically the monocletes are MUCH more durable, due to the ceramics destructibility. The monocletes are literally better in every single way. they weigh less, cost the same, and are much more durable.

As long as the plates are in the same class, the higher the number of effective durablity, the better the overall armor. Elaphros has 45 armor points and is ceramic, which has a destructibility of 0.6, so the effective durability of Elaphros is 75, as 45 Armor Points/0.6 Destructablity is 75. Monocletes have a effective durability of 118, as UHMWIPE has a destructibility of 0.3375 and the Monocletes have 40 armor points. So no, the monocletes will take more bullets and protect you overall. Also, armor steel and titan and not the worst? steel has a destructablity of 0.525 and titan 0.4125. Ceramic and glass and two worst materials, as they are both sitting at 0.6.

i cant do the big russian 6b armors. theyre just too damn heavy for my playstyle. the kirasa i run a shitton with the monoclete inserts and ill throw my lvl5 armor in thors with sideplates or the strandhoggs. i get all my strandhoggs back, even one or two with lvl5 plates. overlooked armor. it covers alot of areas and has good plates while being light and can carry 40 or 42 rounders the 1x3 slots.

Surprisingly I've had some success with the UN body armour this wipe and I get it back all the time 😅 Probably not the cheapest but I only use them so much due to no one touching them so I have an endless supply of them for budget runs! I absolutely and entirely disagree with you on the SPRTN Elaphros. It is most certainly not the best plate in its class. The Monoclete III very regularly goes for 20k on the flea, is 250g lighter and is made of UHMWPE which has both better effective durability (lower destructability) but also *far* superior repairability compared to the ceramic Elaphros.

TL:DR monoclete plates are better level 4 plates. feel kinda bad doing this to as small of a channel but your section on plates is misleading. the best plates are heavy plates only if you grind to 51 heavy armor repair to get ricochet and damage reducing on those plates anything less than 51. otherwise the classification of light vs heavy is wholly irrelevant and all that matters are the numbers on the plates. monoclete plates are the best level 4 plates, they wiegh the least they reduce movement the least and they have the highest EFFECTIVE durability. which brings me to the error I believe you made which is believing that BSG doesn't lie to you about armor durability numbers. but they do lie, material matters A LOT and 40 durability ultra lightweight polyblahblah has a 45% modifier meaning only 45% of a bullets armor damage will carry into damaging the armor. ceramic has 80% which means ceramic breaks 35% faster and that 40 vs 45 durability is actually 88 vs 56 when you account for material.

The GAC is the go to for tier 5. Also since you were so nice about your critique I think now is a good time to say that I NEVER said that Monoclete was bad. As far as destructibility and ballistics go it can be so varying that it truly doesn't matter to me. The only thing that makes the Elaphros that bad is the repair. Even if it STATISTICALLY is #2 it still isn't a bad option for some tier 4.

Having +6k hours on this darn game I'm at a point where I run whatever. Armor is just worse now, which sucks in a way but also gives you more freedom. Just wear whatever you have or whatever you think looks cool. I mean, you go geared you get head/eyes. Go cheap and you'll get thoraxed. But every now an then your armor saves you or you take 4 M62 naked and still live.

I do find it funny that they added all these armors and rigs over the years just to basically delete them all lol. And for changing plates around I honestly cant be bothered, its more work and time when I can just buy a korund. Also I would say my plates actually tanking for me is probably only about 5% of my engagements so me wasting time min maxing plates is not worth it.

In my humble opinion armor used to be useless 2 weeks in because all the try hard sweats had endless stores of top tier ammo. Now armor is useless because of that and also because it barely protects things. I’ve found much more success in my raids bringing no armor and taking advantage of my mobility to kill players and then I have free slots to take their armor and loot. Unless it’s ultra light weight armor or i’m running a heavier gun and kit I typically just don’t run armor for any mid tier kits and if even I’ll run a zhuk or a paca or something in the off chance a scav hits the armor. But now more than ever scavs just target weak spots, scavs used to be programmed to calculate the easiest to hit weakest spot and now it’s just exaggerated with the increases places you can get one shot

The fuck you mean by OSPREY vs. CPC? OSPREY is T3 soft covering twice as much body including NECK which is part of headshot area and is one if not the only soft armor worth noting as it can save you from pesky scav buckshots etc. The CPC is effectively useless rig. Only issue if OSRPEY is weight, but it is endgame armor system, most people running it will be around 30 strenght which allows using it. Like sorry but you seem to have something confused here... Crafting CPC from T5 plate, will give you rig which is worse/same as literally any rig with armor plate slots on sides. And one extra T5 plate.. T2 soft is major drawback of CPC, soft armor is what protects you from scavs, plates are for players. T2 vs. T3 is big deal against scavs..

The Osprey Assault is 150k-180k for class 2 aramid. The Ars Arma isn't perfect but it does what it needs to and cost almost 1/4 of the price. The Osprey Protection variant however is worth 150k-180k, but that not the one I mention.

The aramid matters vastly less than the plates, because bullets that kill you in the torso pen class 2/3 regardless. Shotguns, which randomly kill you in all kinds of hitboxes, are stopped by class 2. But if you want the best of all worlds, you could use the P variant. You're free to use whatever you want, but suggesting the CPC to players who might not know how bad its hiutboxes are, is just trolling.
