This actually may be the best video you’ve done yet, full stop. Not because of the playset itself, but because of the approach you took with toys and engineering themed toys. There is a reason that LEGO still makes me smile today when I’m building. Also, you smacked me hard with a nostalgia bomb showing that Tupperware set. I haven’t thought of that style in decades!

I always loved the Droid Factory. My mom gave it to me for my birthday, and I got a lot of play out of that thing. I lost most of the parts and ednde up buying a complete replacement at a toy show in the '90s. That ESB one is looking sharp! Take good care of it!

Joey this episode should be nominated for a Webbie. The history and depth of analysis in an under 10 minute video 👏❤ I loved this toy when I got it for Christmas. The number of droids I made....My favorite was not the 3 leg R2-D2 but using the quadpod body to make a carrier/vehicle for my figures.

One of your best videos. I love the engineering aspect of this toy that you show in the first part. The box advertises that you can make "hundreds" of different droids. I have a MISB but it's cooler to have this one open. BTW 1250 is not a bad price these days for an unassembled example in my opinion.

I'm in agreement and I STILL collect LEGOs. That's always been my thing, LEGOs and action figures. I'd absolutely love to have this playset. As many droid possibilities there are, that's how many more vintage SW figures I'm missing from my collection. I'd really like to mix a Droid Factory droid in with the first 21. I don't go along with people who say that the Droid Factory R2 isn't a figure, nor any of the droid creations. It's not a figure til you make something. That's the way I see it. Your boxed items look great Thanks for the video. :)

Thanks T! Yes there are no rules in your collection. If you want the droid factory toy to be included as an action figure in your collection, than so be it! I also share that thought and that’s why I included that figure in my loose collection :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts my friend

Wow! That ESB box with unused content is a real gem. I rarely see that one - great pick up!!! I didn't have this one as a kid, but have a near mint R2 from the set in my loose collection. I've been quietly looking for a complete boxed set in excellent condition for a while, but keep barely missing out. I'm sure the right one will come along soon. I'm surprised that GW hasn't made an acrylic for this one yet. I'm guessing that one is likely in production being that is just a box & not really an unusual shaped item. Hopefully soon. Another fantastic Playsets video Joey - congrats on getting both secured for your collection my friend.

Love the video Joey! I always wanted the Droid Factory simply because of the 3 legged Artoo! I missed the simpler Palitoy version at the time but found a complete Kenner version in the 90s, leaflets included and the metal rods all present and correct, also the vinyl tube uncut. The connectors are a little fiddly which is why they tend to go adrift. But to be honest, the selling point was the tripod Artoo! I only ever saw one Palitoy version on the shelves back in about 79, couldn't afford it, never saw another until the 90's as I said, but the stars aligned and it was mine at last! Bwaaahaahaahaah! Ahem. 'Not to the swift of foot goes the race, but to the steady of purpose'. And having the money at the time helps too.😁

Really cool video Joey! I have a spare peg for your used one if you want. Back in the days in France Droid Factory ( US or UK version) was not release and this playset was one the first toy I really wanted to collect as a grow up. I bought my first one with an ESB box in 1991 and I like the lego style of that playset where you can build many droids of all kind. Definitely a toy where the kids can let his imagination go. And building star destroyed with polystyrene TV insert or any large cardboard content left behind my parents were great opportunities to build stuff to play with :)

Yes, engineering! They blinded us with science LOL... Have always loved this design! Probably the reason we got "mini-rigs" later on back in the day. Although an R5-D4 would have been a better choice to include IMHO... Too bad they never upgraded the design back in the 90s. #thirdlegmagic

Kenner was the best, from the Smash-Up Derby, Play-Doh, Six Million Dollar Man, and Star Wars until they folded. Kenner had the best customer service. The Droid Factory was and is very fun, but nah, not the best. That award goes to the Death Star.
