Dennis Waitley wrote this book when he was losing in life, he said "I was broke, unemployed, hated life, but I didn't care I still wrote a book about winning which changed everything for me"

This was the best gift that my dad ever gave me. I was about 14 at the time. My first self help program. Changed my life. Getting off the subject, I want to share a story about Dennis. Many years ago, in the ‘70’s, Dennis was running through Chicago’s O’Hare Airport to catch a flight which he ended up missing. While he was booking another flight, he heard an explosion. It was the flight that he was supposed to be on, flight 191, crashing after takeoff. All 271 passengers/crew were killed. He never rebooked the flight and saved the ticket which he still has on display in his office as a reminder to not complain too much if the going gets tough. True story.

Same here. Though this was my second program. Though it was my second program and one among many, it quickly became my most favorite program. I bought the psychology of winning on a recommendation from the author of the first personal development program I ever bought: I am of course speaking about the Legendary Earl Nightingale and his Lead the Field course.
@michaelslater68393 жыл бұрын
I believe this may have been my second program of several hundred audiobooks mostly this type of book along with marketing and other skills necessary for business. It definitely takes me back to when I was a winner. I’m really banged up these days both physically and mentally. And I’m hoping that reminiscing and remembering who I was then will help rebuild who I need to be now.

I remember listening to this tape cassette a couple times during my early teen years. Although I didn't really need it, my mom thought it would be nice for me to listen to when I was already doing well for myself in daily life, meanwhile competing and winning many skateboard contests starting at age 10 through 16. I also already had a healthy level of self-awareness and self-esteem. She would pass down motivational tapes and books to her kids that she already listened to and read. Her getting something out of it, she thought her own kids would get the same message or value out of as well, forgetting everyone's different and handles life differently. Denis Waitley has published some inspirational quotes and speeches and was one of the admired people others looked up to back then, when there was no social media or internet, when people were limited on ways of connecting. However, the more I've studied Narcicism over the past 10+ years, I listen to Denis's talk from back then, and he easily could have been seen as an arrogant, self righteous, narcissistic A-hole by today's standards, if he were to give the same speeches today without any self progression in demeanor, behavior and attitude.
