They're not supposed to hit the punter. So he pushed him. Hitting the punter when he kicks it is automatically a penalty and another chance for the team another round of go gain 10-15 yards and first and 10 again. Other than that. A heck of a kick that was.

Yeah, basically, except he didn’t get hit. If he had gotten hit, then it wouldn’t have mattered if the kick went 60 yards, 60 feet, or 69 centimeters, basically, because his team would’ve gotten the ball back, regardless, with a first down. It was a really good punt, though, considering the circumstances, especially, and it really mattered, basically, because there was no roughing the kicker penalty called, and that’s basically because he didn’t get hit, basically, at all, basically.

This happened to me my junior year in HS football. The ball was hiked down to our 5 yd line. I ran back and picked it up turned and kicked it and was blasted by to defenders. Was able to get the ball passed the 50 yd line. If they got the ball at the 5 they would have scored and won the game. It was homecoming and the score was 21 to 15. We scored a touchdown and I kicked the extra point for a 21 to 22 victory. Kern Valley vs Desert HS Edwards AFB in 1976. Memories brought back by this video. Thank you!

Back when I was in HS (I was in the band) our long snapper went Superman and LAUNCHED the ball over the punter’s head and into the bandstand…from the 15yd line. That's a dangerous decision right there. Happened to me in HS, ball sailed 5 feet over my head into the end zone, best thing to do there, since you don't know how close the defender's are, is to kick it out the back of the end zone. It sucks giving up 2 pts but it's better than 6. We won 46-44 triple overtime.
