So I just finished listening to VICE Sports, regarding Gambling University band. Many 'claims' that traditionally black university bands are better than other school bands. I have a respect for ALL young musicians. For directors to state that their band is better than any other is sad. Have some respect for all musicians, teach them well, and ensure that they can play music that can be 'heard'. When I listen to their band (and others that are similar (FAMU comes to mind)), I can't tell what the songs really are, unless they're announced. Their sound is so loud, and over-done; a cacophony rather than song. As for the drum majors, do they really know how to lead their bands, or is it just for show, and why are there so many?
