Let me demonstrate my favourite, the most freeing and fun way to paint watercolour landscapes in a loose and expressive style. This way of painting helps break through creative blocks and find joy in the creative process again.

Potter's Pink (Schmincke Horadam)
Lavender (Daniel Smith)
Indigo (Art Spectrum)
White Gouache (Winsor&Newton)

I have spent 2 months doing watercolour tutorials and learned a lot. The thing is - all my paintings are really copies of what others have done. That is fine - it has been a learning experience and necessary. BUT ....I was intrigued by your 'Abstract Watercolour Forest'....then I found this !!! WOW WOW WOW - for the first time I created my own watercolour painting and water dictate the direction to go. Love this approach completely. Love what I just did and can't wait to create more feelings and emotions. Thank you so much for sharing your style and technique. You have opened up painting world !

Wow, have I ever been there Anastasia! Especially with this loose expressive style. I’ve tried some pieces using these techniques but without success. They never came out like I saw them in my mind. That is until today. I worked on a piece inspired by another artist I follow here. I didn’t think much about it and only semi planned my colors. It turned out to be the most successful spontaneous piece I’ve done so far. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but I learned to stay out of my own way, not get in my head, and just play.
