That is actually the gift of speaking with diverse tounges. Different from praying in tounges

If I recall correctly, Ps John Cho explained that there are 4 varieties 1.. spirit speaking to God - mysteries (not even the speaker understands) 2. t that self edify ( Jude 20] 3. t with interpretation in church (prophecy) 4. t as sign to unbelievers (known languages)

I was enjoying everything I heard until you got to the part where Paul says let him pray for interpretation. The reason for praying for interpretation is because this is being operated in the local assembly and people are not edified if they do not hear the interpretation of tongues or a tongue. Paul is not talking about an individual believer interpreting his own tongue for his own benefit.
