Of course Russia doesn't believe that principle applies to smaller nations on its border, just look at its actions towards Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Estonia etc. In those countries Russia will assert it's right to interfer in their policies and politics.

Hillary lost because neither her or her staff cared about Wisconsin's (Milwaukee) working class Whites who traditionally vote for Democrats. She called working class white people who supported Trump "Deplorables" (and by extension -- tarred other working class Whites with the same brush.(btw: White, working class males are not a favorite group of the Dems -- Who play group identity politics) Trump won the popular vote by a very narrow margin therefore, he got all 10 electoral votes.
