I don't have a relationship with my parents, so instead I bitch about being 25 to my 21-23 year old friends instead. They probably think I'm going insane. But something in that brain just clicks and you find your whole mindset changed, and I know they don't believe me now but they will.

Because 30 years ain't that old. Coroni allegedly created the "Teenage Girls in their 20s!" And while I get it, what they kinda mean with that....that particially, as everything also always existe(d) already. I am sorry but being "ADULT/ING" in this time and age is like a completely different story than up to the 1970s or even 80s. Like look at 30 year olds from "back then" and then look at us "Millenials around their 30s-50s" again... I do even envy the natural givenr resilliance that seem to have to be fed with breastmilk back in the day. Like one windblow and we're flying away..right? (and I don't mean the bodytpe)

If you are feeling anxious about getting older and having existential thoughts at 14, then you probably have undiagnosed depression and anxiety. Take it from a 25 yr old who is only now accepting my actually diagnosed depression only after ignoring the depression and burning out so bad that I failed college. But also you could just be feeling a natural human anxiety of growing old that everyone feels and I am here being presumptuous and internet diagnosing a random stranger on the internet. So you could also just ignore this comment. Lol.

a) Do your best and get a Therapist if it is THAT serious. And don't give up if it doesn't work with No 1 and or 2, finding one is cruel. b) If your parents can't affor that because you live in the US of A (yeah) find a Hotline for your age that can listen to your worries. c) BREATHE ! just BREATHE deep IN & OUT! d) Maybe ocassionally find a old school paper block and write everything you think and feel out...maybe you find things in you, like being able to write good stories or poet you didn't know you had yet or still...

At the very least don't make the same mistakes I did. Find out if there's a community college in your area and see if they have any affiliated universities that they have a credit transfer program with. Take your required course load through the community college before transferring to University to finish out your major. Also, go in with an actual plan. If you don't have a plan you're very likely to waste at least a semester if not multiple years trying to correct for this. If there is a particular trade you are interested in, look for a trade school in your area and try that instead. Worst case, you'll learn within a semester that you aren't cut out for that trade. Best case, you get your certifications within a year or two (depending on the trade) and you're out making money sooner rather than later. While the trades may get looked down on, they're still vital, the work is there, and the pay isn't bad.

When I was 14, I was so excited and looking forward to getting older and having more rights and freedoms. I don’t think this issue you’re having is very common tbh. I remember my quarter life crisis. It felt like hell and not just the usual hell that was my previous job and spending time with my narcissistic sister. My 30s have been a huge step up because I realized that I Am an adult so literally anything I do Is something an adult would do. Society can't actually gatekeep true adulting. I'm free.
@R0gueM
@R0gueM Жыл бұрын
I’m not really understanding what it means to have a life crisis, like when people say quarter or mid-life crisis. I’m in my later 20s and I’m just chugging along, doing my thing day by day. Do you wake up one day and just start freaking out about getting older?
@Takisan111
@Takisan111 Жыл бұрын
@@R0gueM It's sort of a gradual thing. When we are young, we are told we have to progress at the same level as everyone else if we want to grow up to have a normal, happy life. Everyone internalizes this at different levels but everyone has some sort of expectation that if they do x then they can expect to get y at some point. However, once you actually get to the legal adult phase of life, you start to notice that some things aren't happening the way you thought they would. You see other people going on to get into an amazing college or get a good job or buy a house or start and family and it's easy to fall into the trap of wondering what's wrong with you that you weren't able to do the same thing when other people your age or even younger already have. For me, I had to give up on my dream job for a variety of reasons and then I got fired from the job I did have due to the new owners purging all the old staff after the buy out. I had to give up on my apartment and move back in with my parents. So I hit my mid 20s, I had no place of my own, my new job was near literally hell for reasons I don't want to talk about, and on top of it all, my evil sister would come home from her big fancy state school and drop subtle jabs at me for not being smart enough or talented enough to achieve even a fraction of what she was doing. A quarter life crisis can hit at any time after 21 but 25 is the usual point as it's the point your brain finally stops developing. It than suddenly hits that your 10 year high school reunion is only a few years away, you'll be hitting 30 in 5, and you've essentially achieved none of the important goals you wanted for your future. If you've been able to avoid it up to this point, I very much envy you. I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone. My advice would be to make some time to do things you enjoy. Taking time for a little self care can go a long way. Also don't be afraid of 30. It's actually not as bad as so many people think it is. It actually feels pretty good. Highly recommended.

@@Takisan111wow I feel like you’re the first person who actually articulated exactly what you feel about this issue, in a way others can understand (me at least) and it was so relatable. I’m sorry about your narcissistic sister. I have a brother like that and I keep being angry he’s so far along and he’s a fancy engineer and perfect. I had to move back in with my parents at 20 also. Covid happened at the same time my fiancé broke up with me and I was so mentally unstable that I had to move back in with them. I lost everything. Then the economy being the way it was, I am 24 and still live with my mom and step dad. I feel like a failure bc I compare myself to my HS peers and my YOUNGER brother. my mom is a narcissistic so I know how that feels. I’m a freshmen in college now and everyone else is like 17-22 and most people in the marching band are freshmen so it’s even younger. Plus they had no highschool experience socially so they are so much more immature than a normal college student. They act like they’re in highschool and it makes me not only feel even older, but it makes me feel like I am going backwards in life and I should be somewhere better. I was 20 when the pandemic started and then we came out of it and I was 23… I lost those years to a void and now I’ll never know what it’s like to have my early early 20’s in college. I was doing nothing and working in EMS during covid. And I didnt go back to college until after covid bc it wasn’t the same education without being there in person. Now I regret not just going through covid. But either way, I missed out on my college aged years and that normal college experience. Now I’m not an untraditional student being a bit older. But nobody can tell. I can though.

I decided to go the other route and age faster. In my mid 30’s, I chose to always tell everyone I’m five years older than I am. This way I always look good for my age and I’m closer to retirement. It’s easier than asking Mother Nature or Father Time for approval because they don’t have to do anything. Their sitting back waiting for me to actually be in my late 80’s when the trick doesn’t work anymore because I’m too old for it to matter. So far it has worked pretty well. Life still goes on, but at least I look good, with less work and no need for plastic surgery. My sister and female cousins love it because it makes me older than them. Plus, it makes me old enough that as far as my career is concerned, I’ve paid my dues and it’s almost Mai-tai o’clock.

I love that these videos have gotten to the point where Gen Z is firmly hitting the start of "real" adulthood. I know there's a lot of freshly about 25ers in here. I remember that feeling. Your 30s are FINE. 25-30 feels like a wild ride because you're literally finally seeing the world differently for the first time (brain science, look it up) and then when you hit your 30s it's kind of scary at first because you realize that it's suddenly ALL ON YOU. No one is going to say "aww shucks you're just a kid" in most any circumstance. But then you hit those mud 30s and it's just like... All this life experience you've had just... Becomes a new you. Like, it's still you but you don't feel this pressure you had before to be on all the time. You know how you look at people over 35 and think "ugh, they are just boring"? They aren't, they are doing "me shit". They aren't living for anyone but themselves. It's great. Now, I've already had my mid life crisis in my late 30s (thanks covid) so I'm looking forward to my "fabulous 40s) once I get my finances reestablished after my career change but your 30s and after are GREAT. Your body may hurt but your brain works

I am so glad that I am not the only experiencing the quarter life crises. 😭😭😭 I turn 30 later this year and I swear it’s feels like I’m turning 70 instead. Everybody I know is either married or has children. Meanwhile, I have no kids and I’m afraid that I’m getting to old to be a mom. Everyone tells me that I’ve got time, but then again there’s a reason why they tell women to have kids on your early 20’s. I have a good job, but it’s a 9 to 5 and there’s a part of me that’s afraid that I’ll be stuck doing this for the next 30 years. I still have dreams about doing my dream job, but apart me feels like I’ve gotten too old and that I have too many bills to even attempt pursing my dream. Thankfully, I don’t have any really body aches or pains, but I am worrying about age and how much longer do I have to still be young and beautiful? Everyone tells me that I am, but I can still see the gray hairs and the crinkle lines at the corny of my eyes appearing. 🥺🤯 It’s just a lot and while I know that it’s all in my head…I know that I live my life however I want at whatever age I want, but I just really hate getting old and feeling like my life has no purpose. That’s exactly what the quarter life crises feels like to me and I can only imagine just how much it’s gonna be for me once I hit mid life crisis. 😬
