The Queen inspects the Royal Guard from 5 SCOTS outside Balmoral Castle in Scotland, August 2021

Her Majesty the Queen inspects the Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion (5 SCOTS) outside the gates of Balmoral Castle & Estate in August 2021. Also present were the Black Watch Pipes and Drums of 3 SCOTS, The Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Shetland pony mascot L/Cpl Cruachan IV, with handler Pony Major Mark Wilkinson. The Queen was being officially welcomed as as she arrived for her summer residence at Balmoral in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

@@jamielyallleathan She absolutely adored Scotland, loved being at Balmoral where she could relax and even go to the shops in the villages where she would chat to locals. Speak to any local in Ballater and they all have a story about the day they met and spoke to the Queen! She had apparently stated more than once that she wanted to pass away at Balmoral, she got her wish and the Scots gave her a fantastic farewell. Watching the Royal hearse leave Balmoral and then see all the farmers having their tractors and horses all lined up facing the road from the field as the hearse drove through Royal Deeside was lovely too.

As an English ex serviceman I can honestly say the Royal Scots guard along with the Gurkha regiments are the most feared of all fighting combat regiments they are fearless and professional- the US guys not so
