Hello man 🙂 i'm french and the Quest X5 is my first detector, it's a very good machine, I found gold, a lot of coins, including one in silver, it is not expensive, he does his job very well, I recommend it to anyone new to detection 😉

Hey Jason ! Amazing that I sent you a note about reviewing the x5,and bam ! Here it is ! I have the X5,X10,Q20,Q30+,Q40 and the top of the line Pro. The higher you go in the line,the better the machine/ more features. While the X5 ,does not have a backlight,the X10 does. You have to push the side button twice. Hope to see a review on the X10 sometime in your series. Great series. Happy 2021 to you. Dan in Arkansas

The coil is on backwards, but won't have a effect on pinpoint, the pinpoint is off because the coins are on edge, pretty much all detectors will pinpoint to the side of the coil when a coin is on edge.
@treasurehuntingnewyork59794 жыл бұрын
I just tested this out your a 100% percent correct it’s just like the expression you learn something new everyday
@MrBottlecapBill4 жыл бұрын
The same happens with long skinny iron like nails, they often pinpoint off to the side. In the video you can see as he moves it left......it makes a noise......then right it makes a noise. When this happens the target is in the middle. :) Pretty common, you just have to experience it. Sometimes if you use the drag back pinpoint method, instead of pinpointing feature you can bypass this. Which is to just swing over the target back and forth as you pull backward. You'll see the target makes a noise around the center line of the coil and as you do tiny wiggles and pull backwards the target will suddenly vanish right around the center tip of the coil. You dig there. I use this method most of the time to prevent wear and tear on the pinpoint button. This only works with Double D coils........not concentric.

I bought an X5 with a pinpointer(f that’s the correct name, I’m new) for $50 at a garage sale, I have used it here and there at my subdivision park, and I mainly go to where I see the high school kids hanging out at one of the picnic tables by the basketball courts, so far I have found around $5.00 +/-, to me unless I find something very valuable (which I haven’t), It’s all about just finding something, I am very new to the hobby but I can see me continuing to metal detecting for the rest of my life. Thanks for the info on this video.
@estima8tor14 жыл бұрын
It's not a bad little detector for the price in my opinion. As mentioned below the coil was installed backwards which may be causing the PP issue. Most machines do better when you push the pp button as you are swinging the machine, not before you start swinging.

All great videos. New subscriber. Wish I could search my grandfather’s old property. Home built in the early 1700 and former Governor’s residence. A few acres of land. Who knows what could be found there?!?! Unfortunately, I’m an expat, living overseas now. And my grandfather’s children just recently sold the property. So, sadly, will likely never be able to inspect this property. So... living vicariously through your searches. Keep it up!
@Marinesniprx4 жыл бұрын
Go back and explain the situation, they may let you hunt the property, you'd be surprised how many permissions you can get door knocking..
@millwx4 жыл бұрын
@@Marinesniprx Actually, my bigger problem is the expat part. My guess is, you’re right. They’d likely let me dig... especially in the entire back area, as it’s become overgrown (unless they’ve done something with it since purchasing it). I suspect you’re right. Unless they’re just mean jerks, they’d likely permit me to do it. Biggest problem is, I live 10,000 miles away. LOL. I’ve also got an old family farm from the 1700s I’d love to search (also would need permission as it’s no longer in the family). It would be fascinating to search property owned by my own ancestors hundreds of years ago. (My family has been in New England since the early 1600s... many on the Mayflower, but the most prominent one, who’s family and descendants owned most of their land, came over about 20 years later.) Watching this channel just makes me wonder what fascinating things might be found. I realize these vids are basically highlight reels. You might go for 30 minutes to an hour at a time finding nothing or just a bunch of old garbage. But it seems to me the *potential* for some great hits is high on these properties. Would love to search them sometime. Not sure I’ll ver get the chance. I hope so.

Try the Minelab Vanquish 340. Killer beach machine for cheap. Five frequencies at once...5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 khz. Coin, jewelry, and all metal mode. Put it on jewelry mode, max sensitivity, earphones, and hit the beach. It`ll find the tiniest gold jewelry and hit gold rings deep like the Equinox.

It`s still a thrill to me after detecting since the 1970s to find a quarter. My detector was stolen and I received a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 years later for Christmas. I found several coins in my sister`s yard testing it. The next time I tested it after learning a bit more about it I found a very old, terribly worn silver half dollar! The Quest detectors seem to be really amazing. I suggest the Vanquish and Simplex too. These three would make an incredible team for any possible detecting scenario.
