If you want a perfect villain for him then create a villain like Chameleon from Spider-Man. Someone who can impersonate anyone. Serial killer villains would also be perfect for him. Make a True Detective vibe story for him and make a serial killer who every time he kills has a different face.

I had a similar idea of a lower tech Mysterio with the question having to figure out the theatrical effects he uses to solve his crimes. With his noir aesthetic Victorian penny dreadful characters like Spring Heal Jack and Jack the Ripper would also be interesting. While Jack the Ripper was a real person, the newspapers and Penny Dreadfuls made things up to add to his legend. This could also tie in to the idea that the Question is immortal or reincarnated.
@crazychadmbАй бұрын
Maybe his recent "Pop" has to do with true crime being so popular. The slow drip of high profile sex traffickers. The general distrust in the government. The lack government response to places like East Palestine, Ohio or the worse Conyers, Georgia

Definitely a character that deserves a solo title. I never liked the fact that Montoya became the Question, mostly because they never interacted before DC decided to make Renee the new Question: it's as if Jimmy Olsen becomes the new Creeper cause both he and Jack Ryder are journalists, it's just dumb. According to this logic Harvey Bullock could have been the new Question too. As for my hot take i would say that the Question should go back to his roots and become a more objectivist hero. After all Steve Ditko envisioned the Question as a less extreme version of his Mr.E and i don't think there's nothing wrong with having a minor character having a more distinct political view: It helped Green Arrow becoming more popular and distinguish him from Batman so i think it could work for the Question too. P.S. imagine Chuck Dixon and Graham Nolan working on a Question solo title? A dream come true

@ that’s okay I’ve never heard of either of them, so what comic is Mr. A from?
@niccoloproia367829 күн бұрын
@@scrublordstephen5109 Mr.A is a character created by Steve Ditko in witzend #3 in 1967. Witzend was an underground comic published by the Wonderful Publishing Company and Ditko had full creative control over the character and property too. Unfortunately it's a bit difficult to find those comics nowadays, i know they have been republished in a lot of Steve Ditko's collections but i don't know if there's a sort of compendium of all the stories. They are rather short though, going to a maximum of 10 pages. I'll give you a list of some of them: - "Mr. A." (witzend #3, 1967) - "Mr. A." (Part 2) (witzend #4, 1968) - "Middle of the Road?" (Graphic Illusions #1, 1971) - "When Is A Man To Be Judged Evil?" (THE COLLECTOR #26) - "What Happens To A Man When He Refuses To Uphold The Good" (COMIC CRUSADER #6) - "Mr. A. : Chapterplay" (COMIC CRUSADER #13, 1972) - "Right to Kill" published as Mr. A. #1 by Comic Art Publishers, 1973 - "Count Rogue" - "Brotherhood Of The Collective" published in Mr. A. #2 in 1975 - "Death vs. Love-Song" (COMIC CRUSADER STORYBOOK, 1978)

Great vid! There’s so many detectives in (Detective Comics) 😅 I think the question would do really well with a small power up and a specific villain like a crime boss like black mask but with the intellect of someone like ras al ghul. But the question needs an ability that sets him apart from the other detectives in the universe
@comicfan1324Ай бұрын
The greatest detective in the DC universe isn’t Batman and it isn’t the Question… It’s Detective Chip. Jokes aside, if we’re talking purely about humans, I think it really depends on the writer. But at the end of the day, I feel like even Batman and the question wouldn’t care which of them is technically the better detective. They both have their off and both respect the other’s achievements.
@retrorampage.9332Ай бұрын
Thanks for featuring my comment. I fully agree with your thoughts that it would be better for The Question to get his own villains and not have them be rehashed from Batman's/other hero's rogues. I just think Batman's enemies specifically could be shared with The Question sometimes (Kinda Like how Daredevil and Spiderman share Kingpin.) But Question needs his own enemies, definitely!
@tyrellmultimediaАй бұрын
No problem, thank you for commenting! But I definitely see what you mean, there are some villains they could share.

I think the Question could be the greatest detective because thats kind of what he has. Same way that Flash has to be the fastest and not Superman. Its just better for the narrative. If Flash isnt the fastest then what is he...? Batman is already got a complete package kind of like how Superman does as well.

The Question not knowing who he really is is already a big theme in the Denny O'Neil run (which, by the way, you _definitely_ should read). It's revealed he was an orphan, and he uses several names across the run, but never knows which one is the _real_ him. Also, the idea of him reincarnating throughout time is, I'm pretty sure, the main idea of The Deaths of Vic Sage Black Label book.

Here's an unpopular opinion for the Question. Denny O'Niel's run on The Question has done irreparable damage to the character that he's yet to recover from and will never recover from so long as people keep leaning on it for his characterization and history.

The Question should also be one of the world’s greatest hackers in the DC universe, for being the best at solving cybercrimes and thereby being able to bring cybercriminals to justice
@mrblaqueАй бұрын
I was familiar with The Question before DC bought out the Charlton characters. To me, he was a less preachy version of Mr. A. who predated him. His first DC series did a good job of reworking his backstory and gave him the momentum to be one of the top heroes, however, once The Watchmen came out, he was overtaken by Rorschach. So much so that writers made The Question look like he was based on Rorschach and not the other way around. In fact, Rorschach was a combination of The Question and Mr. A. Before his mental breakdown, Rorschach was a nuanced and balanced person. Afterwards, he became more like Mr. A and saw the world in black-and-white terms and wouldn't coompromise his morality even if doing so would lead to the greater good. It didn't help when they tried to portray The Question as less of a competent hero and more like a person with a mental problem who needed to be kept at arms length. If there truly is a resurgence of interest in the character, then they should put him back into Hub City. Reestablish Vic Sage, the investigative reporter and keep him out of the larger DCU for a while. If he has to interact with other heroes, then let it be the ones he has a history with: Capt. Atom, Blue Beetle, Nightshade, Paecemaker, AND Thunderbolt.
