I tried this technique and it worked very well. Just make sure you follow the advice to use rubbing alcohol to weaken the adhesive. I tried using heat to melt the adhesive like you do with the back cover, but this did not work. Then as soon as I applied alcohol around the edge of the display I noticed a white powder forming around the edge (some chemical reaction?) and then the screen was not difficult to remove. One more piece of warning: Do not buy the unofficial OLED replacement screens from AliExpress/eBay. It may seem they are a good compromise between a TFT and Original/AMOLED, but the notch is much larger, and the display was not properly aligned for me, so the top of the screen was cut off!

@@ymane1155 Assuming only the display is damaged (which it sounds like if the phone still works), you need a replacement screen, either with or without frame. *With frame* means you won't follow this video. Replacing the screen with frame is usually easier as you just transplant the components to the new frame, but the downside is it's usually more expensive. *Without frame* means you should follow this video. Typically replacement screens will come with the required small screwdrivers and tools. Usually they won't come with the glue or adhesive tape required to attach the back glass and screen back on the phone, so you will also need to purchase this.

The screen glue didn't stick to the frame. maybe because the screen was smashed and after i removed it the frame was too rough, but i ended up putting the screen glue on the back of the screen and putting it in. that seemed to work just fine. a link to this video in with my order would have helped. i started with a different video and removed more components than i need to :( but all is good now :) thanks for the help!

Thanks for the video. It's nice and clear. The only thing I messed up was removing the screen. From the video I didn't notice that the plastic layer between the glass and metal was not part of the screen so I went the wrong side of it and ruined it. I would have loved it if you had pointed this out for the amatures! But the new screen is in and working and with enough glue you can fix anything, right? What type of glue or tape would you recommend to stick it? The ready-made adhesives for the 1+ 6 have gotten quite rare and expensive in the UK so I was looking for a generic alternative. @@YoshiBoy I bought a new screen and followed this video. I needed to buy some adhesive because none came with the screen, so that set me back a bit. And I accidentally cut into the plastic bit of the frame around the screen, but no one knows because my phone case covers it.

I bought the screen on eBay for about £38. It wasnt that hard but it took some concentration. Ungluing the back and front off was the hardest bit. After that it was kind of fun.

FYI before you do this, consider OnePlus's official screen replacement cost. I thought it would be unreasonably expensive, but it's only £75 in the UK. A good Amoled screen along costs about £50, then about £5 for the glue and adhesive tape for fixing the screen and back glass. You always have the risk of breaking something, especially the back glass, which could be an extra £10. Obviously weigh up the risks, but I think £75 for the OnePlus repair is reasonable!

@@Oscar-if6lq have hdmi adapter, gets to lock screen, shows time super zoomed in with no lock screen photo. downloading/installing dr. fone to remove my password to see if that helps. but yes, it is a big deal. dont undermine my problem but thanks for the tip

@@Oscar-if6lq dr fone is freeware asks for a 70 buck for year plan for all the features, no way in hell might as well just replace my own screen at that point. only problem is a 7t screen replacement is 170 dollars and a toolkit to take it apart is like 80. guess i have to wait another half year so i can get up the money at my job im hoping to be hired at.

Sir I got a problem when trying to lift up the flex cable on my OnePlus 6 just as you did on 1:49 I noticed that it is very strongly glued to the phone, so I had to use a heat gun, however, it still didn’t come off that easily, the problem is that I think I’ve damaged that flex cable connecting to the motherboard, the result is that I replaced 2 screens and I still got a very dim screen, the colours are only visible in a dark room, is there a proper way to replace the flex cable?

The TFT displays will be a downgrade in colour and viewing angles, and the blacks won't be as dark. If you want an identical experience to the original phone, you should get an OEM Amoled, but they're quite expensive. You should consider OnePlus's screen replacement programme. Here in the UK it costs only £75 for a replacement, and to get a good Amoled screen you're looking at £50, then another £4 for the glue and tape required to attach the screen and back glass. When you do it yourself the result will never be as good as if you get OnePlus to do it, so personally I'd say it's worth the extra cost.

@@Oscar-if6lq Thanks for the info brother.. thing is i have changed 2 amoled screens so far..here in india it costs around 115 dollars for an amoled screen and the half for lcds.. and i dont mind viewing angles that much so if i can adjust tft screens are better right ??
