I started quilting by making painted quilts 25 years ago - to stop the bleeding, using watered down acrylics, I would paint with my blow dryer pointed at the fabric. Worked a treat!

Omg this is beautiful!! I have literally never even thought of painting on a quilt as an option and it just popped in my head about 3 minutes ago lol. This is the first video I am watching and WOW! Such an amazingly beautiful quilting pattern. I LOVE the black thread used to do the quilting, even uncolored that is such an incredible looking quilt. And this is free motion quilting?? I'm just blown away by people who are talented enough to actually do this so well lol.

Oh Coleen! How beautiful. You have to check out Helen Goddon Quilts. She has lots of great tips for painting on fabric. Your graffiti designs are stunning and the painting, magical. Heavily sized, inexpensive muslin contains the paint more a lot more than quilting cotton and what a brilliant idea to offer pre-quilted panels to paint on! Thank you❤

My favorite medium for painting on fabric so far is Caren D'ache water colour crayons and Golden fabric medium. They work together beautifully and are permanent once they are heat set with an iron.

Hi I know you wrote this a couple of years ago but I have MS which affects my ability to move freely. So if I am not up to sewing I use a textile black sharpie to, trace a pattern on my fabric. Adult colouring books are great like the enchanted garden. Then I use the Jacquard Metallic paint because it is not so runny and doesn't spill over. There are also acrylic and opaque all look amazing. I hope you do try.

I love this wish it would have had more info though I don't know much about quilting but I've done stained glass and painted glass which looks so much like this project you did which got me excited but then I went to subscribe and didn't find anything about buggies quilting or how you did the design! I'm upset but I'm subscribed maybe you can do one I do qeisha's on mirrors I'd love to do one on fabric with these paints! I don't even have sewing machine! Can I get cheap machine and still do this!

I would love to paint a pre-quilted piece such as this and would love to purchase a pre-quilted cotton muslin piece such as yours on which to practice. Can you suggest where I might purchase one? I have tried free-motion quilting on my home sewing machine, and after many attempts, have now admitted to myself that I do not possess the chops to do so.

i know this is kinda weird but, if anyone is looming for a cheaper alternative, try using gel food colors and some textile medium and paint like water color paints. mix the medium with just a tiny bit of water and paint your colors down then go over with the colors with the diluted medium.

YES... YESSSS... YES... I was just think this.... it is amazing how Gel Food Colors (the good ones are the best)... can allow you to Paint like watercolor... I love this method

Did you not use a fabric fixative? I have seen this procedure done before but they applied a fabric fixative. After painting with inks/pencils, they apply another coat of fixative.

+Glenda Slayton - You do not need to use a fixative with Jacquard Textile Paint. Just heat set it and you are good to go! :D
