I think a mod that adjusts darkness to a lunar cycle and considering weather would be a nice touch.
@clem-hk2di Жыл бұрын
It already works like that, each moon phase provides a different amount of ambient light during nighttime, ranging from 0.0 (New Moon) to 0.7 (Full Moon). And weather is also considered, you can see how dark it is in the middle of the day when there is a storm.

Cat's eyes is a must-have, especially on multiplayer because most servers tend to retain or even lower visibility to keep the zombies more of a threat. As far as Eagle Eye goes, it's not worth the investment of points. PS EDIT: If you have Cat's Eyes on your character and you're running single player, amping the brighteness up to high actually allows you to raid during the night, as even during the pitch-black hours you have just enough visibility to navigate. The only "issue" is that not even Cat's Eyes and high brightness can help you spot Zombies when wandering through grassy areas or forests, so you should keep away from those during the night if you intend to raid then.

eagle eyes is effectively even 2 points more expensive than its nominal cost as it is mutually exclusive with short sighted which literally does nothing.
@yastreb.11 ай бұрын
@@IschmarVI Short sighted does decrease your foraging radius unless you wear glasses. Also I think only the glasses you get from character creation will work, not random glasses found on zombies. Still I agree short sighted is very much worth it, just remember to unequip your glasses when not foraging and favourite them so you can't drop them.
@Guts-the-Berserker6 ай бұрын
I think I tested the Short Sighted Glasses interaction before & it works with any glasses.
@IschmarVI3 ай бұрын
@@yastreb. bit late on the replay. But well, short sighted gives -2 foraging radius, which is removed if you are wearing glasses or reading glasses (the latter of which doesn't really make sense but whatever). However, glasses themselves also give as 2.5% penalty on foraging. So that's what it does: you lose 2.5% foraging range which is ... almost nothing. And these 2.5% are what "literally" was referring to :p And it works on all glasses, not just the starting ones. Also, short sighted does not seem to have any other effect.

If you're trying to minmax foraging, Eagle Eye *does* give one of the highest foraging radius bonuses, at +1.0. Most other perks that increase the radius fall in the +0.2 to +0.7 range, but they also improve your finds, so finding the right combo to stack up can make you a foraging menace. Unfortunately, that ends up being *a lot* of points, so you have to ask if you'd rather have better time foraging or start with 10 Fitness/Strength.

The fact Cat Eye not only costs less the Eagle Eye but Eagle Eye itself doesn't specify it doesn't work at night is just terrible. This game has so many designs that contradict a super serious realistic zombie sim that you can die from one small mistake. I really wish things were clear as the lack of clarity and sometimes gamelike unfairness holds back this game. I want this game to be the best it can be, not the current 50 guide hidden unfair mechanic it is. This is the difference between it being more popular and what it is now.

I pretty much always use cat eyes, I guess I hadn't played without it for so long I didn't notice just how much of a difference it makes, though I usually play with near-sighted too so unless wearing glasses really does remove the penalty the benefit from cats eyes would most likely be less noticeable. Though obviously the brightness is something I noticed immediately (I thought that was the only benefit to using cat eyes, not the fov increase)

@@lesnoyelf228 The stomp animation raises the arms and legs, but the legs are doing the walking animation so it only makes the stomp sound + hand movement. while walking hold alt and press space. it'll make the stomp sound. Makes no sound if you do it while standing still with no target. Doing this (alt + space while moving with no weapon in hands) to a zombie will always knock them onto the ground. Assuming you do it right. It's a weird bug that lets you stomp standing zombies. The alt+LMB method should also do this, but its unreliable for me.

Hey Retanaru, I have an observed phenomenon that I'd love for you to check out! I wanted to do a playthrough where I start at the top of one of the tallest buildings in Louisville and fight my way down. I decided this would be a stealth play, with knives and wearing no shoes. It seemed to go very well. Despite the very high density of zombies, I was about to walk around the room and kill them with relative ease, or pull zombies by peaking around a doorframe until one noticed me, or simply bumping into them one at a time. However, I started to notice a quirk. No matter how many killed, they would keep flooding into the empty top floor. I don't think it was sound, because they wouldn't know where I was when they entered. I wonder if the zombie migration habits you've observed in the past have a peculiar interaction with vertical spaces. I hypothesize that we don't observe this problem elsewhere because it's lower floors, one and two stories high, and so that floor is occupied over the full loaded regions, but when dealing with the top floors, they can be 100% emptied out, triggering the aggressive migration. This could be potentially valuable knowledge since B42 is introducing 32 floors of verticality.

Have you tried using a flash light or lighter to see how these visions affect, not to mention does eagle eye and cats eye affect aim on shooting. I ussually dont take cats eye as its overrated you can easily mitigate it with a flashlight/torch and i play the darkest nights, fighting in darkness isnt a thing for me and only take cats eye if i plan to have nocturnal shooter run or nocturnal forager.

I think flashlights do effect vision radius at night. Flash lights have a very obvious effect when foraging at night so I imagine it would also effect fov.

The issue is human error exists, if you can perfectly 100% reliably plan everything flawlessly then you will have never failed the game. Is it better to rely on an item or something you have 24-7? Sure you can try to keep the light on you all the time, but this just means if you do take it off you forget since you're so use to having it. Situations will arise where you're forced into darkness, and those situations are often near fatal. If you can survive a near fatal situation with much more certainty then it is far from overrated.
@rationaldemon19511 ай бұрын
@@Buglin_Burger7878 Well for one 2 weeks of early game you have power even at night-time your cats eye won't take full effect to be valuable early on. 2. You only need the effect during night time, yes dark rooms can be benefitial but you can easily smoke them out with noises and good practical awarness. 3. Once those 2 weeks pasts you should be good and ready for any encounter, having decent enough armor, a gun or good weapon is all you need and the zone you are in should be mostly safe. 4. The usage of a flashlight has more benefits then cats can offer, i don't think players realize how good it can be due to reliance on cats eye or lack of engagement of using such item. 5. Nocturnal fights should be mostly avoided unless its a pvp setting, you should clear every zombie near the vicinity and secure the perimeters. Cats eye can be strong but its not a must pick trait you would only take it if you are planning on running nocturnal runs or are nocturnal forager, if you don't plan on fighting at night it becomes wasted points that could be better spent on traits that benefit your style. Granted i won't say you shouldnt take it, but the option of having a flashlight is there, they are abundant and easy to maintain, their usages can only be as strong if your creativity is there. If you need to take cats eye for whatever reason its fine i am just giving my insight on why i think it isn't that great of trait to take. Any way what im getting that is flash light is sleeper op and you should try it.
