The Quixsum Fractional Adding Machine is an adding machine for lengths in feet, inches, and fractions of an inch. It was made in 1924. It is very rare as only about 600 were ever made.

Please consider acquiring a set of hollow ground screw driver tools for use with slotted screw heads. That is one of the most beautiful wheel type machines I've seen Jaap - I bet you were pleased to add that one to the collection. I would say I'll keep my eye open for one, but I doubt I'll ever find one. Great to see it all the same.

Yes, I was very pleased to win this auction. It was not cheap - 321 Euro plus postage - but probably a reasonable price given its rarity. It is a very classy machine. Made by an architect for architects and similar professionals.

French invented metric system for the same purpose

When you want to have such a machine for the metric system, then it would be very much like the adder unit of the Schickard calculator from 1623, which was based on decimal numbers and also had a tens-carry-mechanism.
