OMG thanks so much man! I watched your videos last year when I was in Grade 11 to get ready for this year, in Grade 12. Your videos are so helpful! I forgot the specifics of the quotient rule, I thought that it was similar to the product rule in that the order of the terms didn't matter, and I kept wondering why I got my numerator of the wrong sign. Then I watched this video and you used that low,d-high - hi, d-low over low-low thing and I just breezed through all my homework. Thanks!!

easier way to remember is: y=u (over/divided by) v y'=vu'-uv'(over/divided by) v^2 (v squared) Sorry if it is hard to understand but this is the best I could do on the computer. Basically you're just substituting the complicated stuff on the left of the = sighn with a "y" and stuff on the left with "u (divided by) v" It just gets rid of all those brackets and f's that you just don't need, it renders them useless and is MUCH easier to remember.

For me, yes. I study theoretical physics (it's the literal dutch translation, the official english name for it would be applied science but I just don't see how that name would suit what i do), and I recently had to work on a petrol engine. Without these methods I wouldn't have been able to calculate some essential parts. It might seem like something you will never have to use, but I and others were proven wrong. I think teachers should give examples on what this could be used for.

@AtanasNenov15 жыл бұрын
Awesome vids! One question about the quotient rule though - why did you swap the places of f' and g' as opposed to the product rule? It's the same thing, with the second factor being of power -1. It's a lot easier to remember the quotient rule being the same order as the product rule, i.e. derivative of first "factor" (i.e. the numerator) times the second "factor" (i.e. denominator) unchanged minus first "factor" times the derivative of the second "factor" and ofc over the 2nd "factor" squared.

in the advanced sciences (O-chem, physics, engineering of most types, computer science , etc.) calculus and derivatives are liberally used and are highly useful. Depending on your aspirations this might actually be very useless.... or it could be central to your success. It's always better to be over-prepared, so just keep that in mind.
