Just as an FYI, this tent is not designed for backpacking; it's designed for mountaineering. It's geared for the high alpine, where rain is rare. That's why the vestibule is separate. There are lighter winter tents for backpacking available, and they usually pitch with the inner and outer layers integrated. Other than that, thanks for a nice review. I've been eyeing this tent also, but I think it's too heavy for my needs right now. And when I do end up needing an assault-style tent I'll probably save up for a Samaya.

Great review on new version. I still have the eVent version, it's over 10 years old with a vestibule. Vestibule isn't waterproof, needs treating and sealing. Swapped original DAC poles for slightly stronger/thicker DAC ones, as we got caught out in extreme strong winds exceeding 60mph+ on a mountain top, poles got bent as it was side ways on, but tent never failed. (thankfully we didn't have vestibule with us that time, if we had, that would have gone!) Only wanted to swap out poles just in case they'd weakened. We bailed at 4:30am that morning, tent was surprisingly easy to pack away even in those conditions! It's a quality product.

Seems like a fantastic tent although predictably expensive..then again it’s an expedition tent designed for extreme weather mountaineering so it’s gonna be. I may still get one..definitely will be spending more time in the mountains.. awesome presenter too, keep up the good work!.. Thanks…
