On virgin airlines, when you were flying a long haul flight, they used to give you a little packet of earphones that you could plug into your seat. And on the arm rest there was a little control pad. You could either watch the latest films, or watch tv shows or listen to music. And in 2006, this album was a new release and it was one of the albums available to listen to on the flight. So I listened to it on repeat for like 8 hours from the UK to the Caribbean. And bought the album when I got home from holiday. I remember that more clearly than I remember the whole vacation.

The house at 0:11 is strikingly similar to the house from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Even though it's not the same home, its appearance as well as the shots of the cows (also reminiscent of slaughterhouse holding pens that were featured in several scenes from the movie) make me wonder if this video's location was an homage to the 1974 film...

I've been listening since it was released and the names of the group got old or something. Because I was unaware that Jack White could even play the guitar. Not until I realized they were gonna showcase him in this band. This song was in dedication to an old friend of his but he said goodbye to him a long time ago. And I ain't naming him. Because it's not worth dropping. But anyways, it was a lovely tune, and I want more guitar like this. I'd even dig his vinyl crate, but I wouldn't give the white stripes a listen. Too much drug use and chivalry about his name. I like the way he sing the blues, though.

I first heard this song over the "ceiling" at work. Instantly fell in love with it. I first thought it was a song from the 60s and 70s. It took me awhile to find this on here.

Being from Jack's home town of Detroit,I never knew alot about him,but heard the Grammys had yet to announce the opening act, with about a week to go.I just guessed and said, let jack White do it.He did.And his opening song blew me away with the crowd...it was that good and I have yet to find it on u-tube.There's Jack White at Grammys but NOT same year.

Loved to listen to that back in the day together with some slower Fun Lovin Criminal songs and some Pharcyde tracks while walking on a dark, rainy evening through the city of Frankfurt, being young amd feeling miserable and loving both of it. Good times!

Track/Song about is a call to a more stable, settled life. In the song, the narrator encourages the listener to find a supportive partner, create a simple but satisfying life in a small town, and generally slow down and make sure to take the time to appreciate life. The refrain of "steady as she goes" is a reminder to take life one step at a time and making sure everything is steady for a more relaxed and fulfilling lifestyle. The bridge drives this message home even further as the narrator encourages settling for a world and a girl who will be steady and supportive and not leave the listener feeling like they have "tripped and fell". Overall, the song is a reminder to take things steady, enjoy the small joys in life, and ultimately to take the time to appreciate what they have.

It’s funny you say this as I was thinking just the other day how different songs sound to you as you get older. I love that music can change with how and when you listen to it and also what mindset you are in. A funny thing is how you can perceive it too. Many songs can have you think they are about things and then one day you re listen and actually make you realise what it was actually about.
