I completely agree that you can rediscover yourself through incorporating silence into your day. People use speech to drown out so many things so they don't have to understand them or deal with them. Silence opens you up to yourself and to those around you. Listening is a monumental gift in discovering life :)

*Believe it or not, during his self imposed silence this guy actually taught a class at some college .... you guessed it .... Silent. I watched a piece that CBS Sunday Morning did on him & it showed a small clip of him doing it. It was almost as if it was a game of Charades! The students were giving their complete attention & guessing at what he was trying to say to them gave way to open discussion, which is exactly what he wanted. Such a fascinating person!*

looking inward only causes conceit. it's when we look outside of ourselves and see others needs, and then act to ease that burden, can we know inner peace.
