The Raglan Sessions - Caroline Jones & The Trenwiths

I was fortunate enough to spend most of the past year in New Zealand, where I met The Trenwiths, a Kiwi bluegrass band whose founding members have been playing together since the 1960s. Their family band now consists of three generations of musicians and singers. I absolutely loved playing country and bluegrass classics with them, as well as both my and their original songs. They are some of the most good-humored, good-natured, authentic people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around. Before I left New Zealand to come back to America, a brought a couple of cameras along to capture one of our jams, which we edited down into this video “The Raglan Sessions”.

I'll never meet Caroline, but the list of Legends I've met and befriended is long and weighty. Musicians don't earn my admiration easy. I sincerely love this one as much as I do Diana Krall - enough said.

A decade ago, post surf session, playing a rare Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells, loud in the afterglow, the couple in the car parked beside mine excitedly remarked they knew that music well, but had never heard those tracks. I gladly handed them 2 CDs cause I archive originals, we went on like little kids about our music - the world disappeared around us, instant connection - their house was on the cliff above RAGLAN! Still have a standing invitation and 2 EQUALLY rare CDs they handed to me!!! Love Is The Answer.

My dad is a clarinet and sax jazzman, and doesn't have much use for the country genre, but he does respect the musicianship in bluegrass as generally being superior to what was called "hillbilly" when he was growing up. Of the songs performed in this video, "Wayfaring Stranger" was, at least to me, the highlight.

This is without doubt one of the most pleasurable experiences i've had on youtube. I"ve been a fan of the Trenwiths since the 1960s - before those young men were even born and an instant fan of Caroline Jones since i first heard her, last October. This is a fabulous combination in a beautiful setting. To hear them do 'Wayfaring Stranger' and "Rollin In my Sweet Baby's Arms" is a real treat!!! LOVE IT!!!!

That is such a great session, I love the songs of bluegrass great harmony on the vocals, I used to record bluegrass music on cassettes back in the day because I loved hearing the instruments my all time favorite bluegrass artist was Ralph Stanley.

😳WoW😳 This awesome session explains the other videos of Yall practicing in studio and the Christmas song session‼️ Thank You for bit of News reviling where the big rock on Your finger came from‼️ Hope these folks can join Yall back in the USA when You get to tour again‼️ 💍ANGELIC VOICE💍 Alan Jackson did a benefit concert in his hometown of Newnan Georgia two Saturdays ago‼️ Newnan was severely damaged with several fatalities by a F4 Tornado in March. My Daughter is an Elementary School Teacher there and lives in Downtown Newnan, the epicenter, and was spared by 200 feet as the building next to hers was destroyed. This was Alan’s only concert ever in His Hometown‼️ I hope Yall had a great Independence Day🎆🎇🇺🇸 Blessings and Congratulations to Yall from Northeast Georgia Mountains.
