I agree. I feel that it had the most substantial reworks alongside new and fun mechanics. While the only 4 encounters still hurt it, it is definitely more than enough considering the length and complexity of some of these encounters. My team got demolished by Ir Yut day 1 and had to stall to day 2 to even beat her. It’s probably one of my favorite raids in d2 now.

I think destiny had been so bad for hardcore players lately because Kings fall isn’t that good on repetition and RoN is only engaging for 1-2 people for the majority of the raid lol. Vow was the last time we got a raid that is easily carryable but also still provides a version of a challenge

The reason ppl didn't get to beat Crota in D1 was because of how buggy it was. Don't you guys remember Crota following ppl inside the chamber? Or Crota following players all the way to the ground? Or Crota coming back to life after you "Killed" him? Or Crota summoning multiple Oversouls? Or Crota not taking a knee when the shield went down? It was so buggy when it launched.

Ya know this could be within the cannon of the story Oryx: Begone, and return victorious or perish. Crota failed so he perished. Many hive have come back, even though yes we did kill him in his throne room. We stole Crota essence creating a loophole, like Oryx still living within the ToM. Crota returns via sword logic stronger. Now he is victorious.

I feel like people misunderstand Oryx “surviving” in ToM. It wasn’t *literally* him surviving. It was his ethics. His code. His teaching. “So I will prepare a book, which is a map to a weapon. And then they will take up my weapon, and they will use it, they will use that weapon, which is all that I am. That’s why he’s dead and in need of resurrection by the Traveler’s beam in the introductory cutscene of lightfall at all. The raid’s gear literally has a lore panel chronicling Nezarec screaming in rage and dying after Savathûn fought him 1v1 and won.

For a cheese on Crota, the team I was with caught wind that you could bait Crota to launch off the back of his arena. With lament sword guarding, you can tank his hits. So you would get him to swing at you while back against the “U” shaped structure in the back. He would surf off on it because of how it was shaped, and fly off the map and killing him. There were videos of it, but not at a good angle. We got it to happen ONE time, but where he landed, he could teleport back up. Whether bungie patched this before we heard about it or we did it wrong, I’m not sure. But I will say, it was a lot of fun watching Crota get his surf on 😎

I really like the subtle changes with this raid. Like the lamps blowing up when theyre orange instead of turning red so my entire team wiped and were shocked. And then the radius of your plat is smaller in bridge and if they go red theres no moment of grace to recover. Just sublte changes that throw off the d1 vets

Back when Root of Nightmares was the next big raid, I had commented talking about how Contest Mode needed to evolve just like the player base. Nice to see it happened for Crota's End, a raid I wanted to see (and it most certainly did) improve. Speaking from experience and all the mind numbing I went through with others, I'm happy with how this turned out despite all the frustration and struggle from those 2 days. 🤔😌 Even more so after getting my 1st Crota clear. I did loudly pop off a little too hard and had a coughing fit, and over did it when I spanned my foot, along with my back going sore too. The satisfaction of earning raid clears folks. 😅😌

34:17 the challenge was "rotate the chalice before someone gets it twice" I think, not about enlightened referring to how the last person can preserve the chalice. 35:07 and I think the challenge for Crota was bringing the shield down at once, as in it also worked with two swords.. But regardless, great commentary, great analysis throughout the day one raid race and overall. Thanks for the great video, not only a good recap, but this is just history.

We had to kill ir yut 2x on challenge mode because the first time the encounter just didnt count as completed and we wiped after killing her. Then we killed challenge crota, got the chest spawn and everything and wiped through oversoul and didnt get the emblem triumph for challenge mode ( even raid report says that we completed it on challenge mode and we have video proof) but a lot of other players have the same problem and i hope they fix the emblem because spending 33 hours in a raid race without getting the reward for finishing feels pretty bad

correction on the lantern cheese. you only need one person on that top floor for it work. also the ones running have to make it to the ramp and that's what makes the thrall spawn up there. my team found it when i went up there just to mess around. it help on our challenge run

FYI 23:40 when you kill her just as the timer reaches 0, if you get to the next damage phase just like you normally would, it completes the encounter.

There is a cheese at Ir Yut. You can pick up the chalice before the encounter even starts by jumping to the roof near the bottom of the crystal that starts the crota encounter. Though it’s not really a cheese it just makes the encounter more convenient since you’re entire team can get enlightened except for one person and when that person dies with the chalice, you don’t waste a rez and the chalice just goes back to its normal place.

20:26 i have played destiny since the dark below and never knew shriekers had a level indicator. i just scouted for wizards based on radar opacity of enemies (bright was your floor, dim was other floor) also 1st encounter challenge the way i saw it was you can only enlighten a lamp for as many times as you’ve preserved (conservation) so my team kept track of preserves and enlightens and made sure the number of enlightens was less than or equal to the number of preserves and we made it. the second we enlightened one more than preserve we wiped

Now that I’m thinking about it… it makes sense to bring back siva last in the wrath of the machine raid since siva creates and it’s a major ass role in our guardian lore with the iron banner and the iron lords fighting the plague. I remember doing this on contest mode the second day. Completed bridge encounter and knew the mechanics for it on the first, then LFG’d on the second, and paired up with a guy who did complete bridge under contest, but didn’t actually understand how the encounter worked. And believed (among other things) that the chalice had to be ferry’s across the bridge with the enlightened player, to spawn the sword carrying nights. On top of that the dude would argue any other way that was suggested, including the actual and normal way of doing it. When the normal way was suggested he said “Yeah that could work,” and proceed right back to trying to direct everyone towards his completely unnecessary method

Me and two friends attempted day 1, we didn’t get it. But we had a memorable lamps completion. We ran out of revive tokens and 3 people were dead as we were building the bridge to get out of lamps encounter, then my brother died leaving me and a random as the bridge finished with roughly 25 seconds till light faded and we both spammed Eager edge as hard as we could and got to the Bridge encounter with 3 seconds to spare after spending an hour or so on lamps🤣

I think one of the biggest changes to the Crota encounter is actually where he spawns. In D1, he appeared all the way in the back, where the portal is. But now? Dude shows up IN YOUR FACE and ready to throw hands. It IMMEDIATELY boosts the tension of the encounter, cause he's RIGHT THERE

I ended up taking a break after two days of attempting the raid with my group. In the days that followed, I played Bleach Brave Souls so I could attempt to get the new TYBW characters (Ebern, Quilge, and Bambietta). After 4 days, I got them all and returned to playing Destiny 2. It was a much needed break and getting all the new characters made it worth it

for ir yut you can still cut some mechanic it by claiming calice before encounter start get a solar warlock heat rises go float at crystal at front side if you fly at right spot there is "Claim chalice of light" and start giving people enlightent after that give last chalice to divinity user so they can kill themself using rocket and then all you need to do for scout just find 3 wizard, kill her at same time, and start DPS without waiting for trading chalice

I love being right. I cried like a little girl. I slept only 3h out of 45 so it will be honest to say that I gave all of my weekend to this raid. I got to the last encounter (with the SOB himself) when I still had 15h ahead. It will be easy, I thought. NOOOOOOOO. I DIDN'T GET PAST THE FIRST DAMAGE PART. At normal I got him slapped like a piece of toilet paper, but CM? My first and the most severe mistake was that I was abandoned by all of my friends and went to CM all be myself and some LFG randomees. Ugh. I got Necrochasm after slapping Crota at normal 10 min after CM ended though. Was it worth it? Debatable.
