Fantastic video. Not sure why so many instructors gloss over params. The way you explained it made it instantly clear.

Seems pretty common to skip diving into detail on the basics. Would love to hear any other suggestions for topics you'd like to hear explored!

this is just insane how I've managed to be hired and kept working for a year already with a bunch of rails apps without any knowledge on the topic. Huuge thanks Chris, I've subscribed to your beautiful resources and I'm committed to go through every single video you did and then try and check your GoRails project. This is not the first time when I've found a lot of inspiration from your explanations, but the first time I've decided to thank you explicitly.

Hands down the greatest explanation of params on the dang Internet!! For a Noob this is such a crucial subject that affects ones ability to fully master rails, yet is is often glossed over and horribly explained. Thank you so much! All hail Go rails!! I book marked this and will pass it on to my class mates.

I totally agree with this guy, I am also noob in rails, and finally understood the f^&*(ing params and hashes, now I feel more comfortable on the framework. thanks a lot. when I get to explain someone else how to do it I will definitely use this explanation.

I'm a few years late, but your videos are really helping me! I come from a Spring Boot background, and your explanations are very useful for wrapping my head around the quirks of Ruby and Rails. Cheers!

Awesome! I think I tried Spring Boot once a long time ago. Glad to be in Ruby land though. 😜

yea these explanations give me whats happening behind the scenes in rails. Reading documentation helps but there is so much that sometimes hearing it from someone while going through a scenario makes it burned in memory! thanks again!

I have been struggling with a params issue all day and in 10 minutes you just explained my precise issue to me in a succinct and understandable way. Thank you so much, I wish I saw this video 6 months ago 😭😭

Amazing! I've been learning RoR for about two months and have been so frustrated with the params. After reading a lot of tutorials and spending many hours googling I stumbled across this video which just made me understand it perfectly in 15 minutes! Keep up the good work, this channel deserves more followers!

Thanks. I'm in a boot camp where they ask us to work with params results in Sinatra and Rails and expect us to intuit what params actually is. After your video, I went into binding.pry and messed around, but you gave me a really good stepping stone to work out my own understanding. I really appreciate it.

Great to hear! If there's other areas that would be helpful to cover, let me know!

@@GorailsTV Hmm... Your more recent stuff is good, although some of it's still over my head. I think a similarly confusing concept that comes up a lot early on is idempotence. I don't get it at all. Honestly, though, I feel like your ideas on what is and isn't clear/useful will be better formed than mine. I'm new enough that I don't know what I don't know.
@GorailsTV5 жыл бұрын
@@TPNYC Idemoptence is great! I can definitely do that. I think I will try to go through the Rails (and Ruby) core concepts soon. Having been programming for so long, I've kinda forgotten what things I struggled with when I was learning, it's been too long!

Thank you for this! I'm just getting a little deeper into Rails too and this was not an easy concept to grasp from the documentation. This is one of the most helpful videos I have ever seen. You saved me hours of bumbling around trying to figure this out.
