I had the same experience, the difference was I was terrified as the teaching I heard was very scary - I knew I couldn't live up to the Holiness that would be required to go to heaven. Revelation is imagery, not specific natural events, many other scriptures are imagery too. It is written from the Creation, to Ezekiel, Daniel, Noah and others' experiences and points of view when they wrote.. Imagine, Jesus and His Angels, riding around on coloured horses against the might of nuclear equipped forces. It is imagery written for the understanding of people living before now. It could in parts take place spiritually but not literally. Trying to superimpose Daniel and Ezekiel, literally chronologically nor numerically will not give us correct interpretation, so just wait patiently with our lamps trimmed ready to fire up for Jesus' Wedding Feast

When Jesus comes the second time He will appear to those who love Him. Hebr 9:28. Before Jesus comes the second time a falling away from the truth must take place for the antichrist to be revealed.(2Thes 2:3) When Jesus comes the second time He will destroy the antichrist with the brightness of His coming and those who had fallen away from the truth..(2Thes 2:8,10). Nobody is going to disappear (raptured) before Jesus comes the second time.

The rapture happens with the resurrection. Note 1 Thes 4 says the dead in Christ rise first. So the rapture happens simultaneous with but after the general resurrection. This aligns with Matt 24 and Rev 20 the first resurrection. Rev 20 says that the participants of the first resurrection are those who got their heads cut off because they did not take the mark of the beast. So the rapture is post tribulation any other doctrine is FALSE
