This set got me back into collecting! I love the memorable seasons and they are tough to complete. I pulled a Roy & Brodeur & Yzerman jersey card between series 1 and 2. Even remember pulling a Spezza exclusives young guns.

Very good Young Guns hit there. Back in the day most everything was mixed like that so when opening older products don't get frustrated. Us old timers had to deal with it for a lot of years. At least you don't know what it's like hitting an awesome rookie only to have the gum stuck to it. Products have come a long ways in a rather short time when it comes to quality and what not. Even with the current issues with Upper Deck. Glad that I finally get to see an opening of this. 👍

I opened this box when it originally came out. Because of the sp cards in this set, including ssp memorable seasons cards, easily the most difficult and expensive regular upper deck hockey set to build.

It’s crazy how much Zetterberg’s goes for. I want one so bad along with Datsyuk’s. Both are very pricey. I remember seeing a zetterberg pristine 10 black label on eBay a while back. And on Twitter recently this guy pulled a Zetterberg young guns numbered out of 75.

Back in the day when this box came out, I bought five hobby packs and pulled the zetterberg yg out of the first pack. I knew it was good because, I am a Red Wing diehard. I think it was the first year they started seeding young guns at ratio. Anyways, I sold it on Ebay for 100.00 a few days later. Thanks for sharing. As far as future products to open, you should open the Pavel Datsyuk rc young gun year. The hobby and retail used different photos for each version. That's the only year I know of, that UD did that. Open 1 hobby and 1 retail box. The retail yong guns fetch alot more cash than the hobby. Thanks for sharing.

Lmao that’s so odd Trent hunter was actually my favorite player growing up! I got to go to a bunch of Sound Tigers games in the AHL at like 3 or 4 years old and seeing him leave to go to the islanders was so sad but exciting cause I could still see him play on tv! The boxes aren’t too terrible in price as there are so many Young Guns in the series 2 set BUT they also made a retail and hobby version of each Young Gun with different pictures on each so it’s almost impossible to pull him from a pack and why people just go buy them on eBay.

I actually was offered a box of this (not Canadian Hobby though) couple of years ago. Of course, I bought it for about $75. Did get a Bouwmeester YG and a Jagr jersey so I was happy.

In todays world a 9 YG box would be worth GOLD!! Not bad even if you didn't initially realize the value on the Bouwmeester YG. Maybe look for some early Crown Royale from Pacific??

I was always under the impression that the sp young guns in 02-03 were case hits. If that's the case, getting 1 in 1 box is pretty dang good.

SPs were one per box. You would get either a Young Gun or Memorable Season.

Bouwmeester was very good, but he never lived up to his offensive potential, in my opinion. He averaged about 25-30 points per year. If he had a little more edge in his game he could have averaged double that. He was a very good D-man, but he was too nice. I hope he has a long life since the heart attack. Seriously. It sucks his career ended the way it did.

Please open 2012/13 Panini Classics Signatures. 6 packs per box. 1 Auto per pack. Hot boxes have at least one extra Auto. NO ROOKIES. All autos are hard signed. The checklist is relatively small and stacked with HOFers and solid talent from Yzerman era and before. It's my favorite set of all time. I think because it used to be great value for price, a bit pricey these days. I haven't seen a box for under $150 in a couple of years

Of those 9 YGs, only 3 are actually RCs. There were only 17 RCs in series 1, it was a weird year.

This stuff was so hard to pull SP young guns. You weren't even guaranteed to get a SP young gun. A couple times I got SP memorable seasons. 😒

Quantity over quality here in terms of Young Guns

This year and 2001-02 almost ruined hockey cards for me. Upper Deck made the worst mistake by making almost all of the 1 in 4 Young Guns non rookie cards and then to super short print the true rookies and the Memorable Season cards that were slated to be additional rookie Young Guns but the players hadn’t made their debut yet and thus were unavailable. To make matters worse you could not pull the super short prints from retail boxes and packs so don’t ever buy one as people falsely claim you can pull the super short print Young Guns or Memorable Seasons because you can’t. Upper Deck pissed off their collectors and by series 2 and all subsequent years left the Young Guns seed 1 in 4 packs. upper Deck almost screwed the pooch the previous year in 2001-02 as they made two all of the Young Guns on Series two. One for hobby and one for retail of each player and each had different pictures to differentiate them. They were really trying to milk the value of Young Guns and make people by tons of boxes to complete the set. It’s why the Datsyuk goes for so much now as it’s not worth trying to pull him out of a box. It’s more cost effective to just buy the singles.
