I recently tried Beyond The Wire again, and man this game deserves more attention.

I've put in around 40 hours since it's full release, a good Palate cleanser game to just chill and have fun.

@@DeadEyeKiwi Yeah exactly that! You don't need a squad of players that have minimum 500 hours to have fun - like in Squad. Quick and fun pews.

Excellent scope mechanics in this game. Maybe a bit more random movement due to suppression would be good. In Squad scopes are OP compared to iron sights, picture in picture as well as eye alignment time would be a nice nerf, along with increased "fake" zoom on irons.

It is a breath of fresh air, takes a little practice to get used to. Before full release, BTW had the same shader based 2D scope tech like Squad. Could just run around quick scoping, now that's changed. PiP scopes could use some tweaking with the eye relief, but is a welcome addition.

The reality is WW1 tactical shooters are quite niche, so the chances of huge playerbases for these games are stacked against them. But who know, could be seeing much higher player counts in the future.

How is the Performance with PiP, I remember asking you in a previous Squad Video about it and you responded that it was very taxing on user performance in it's old implentation. Do you have faith in seeing this introduced to Squad like OWI teased in there Podcast?

PiP performance is a mixed bag, it depends on the map and scene complexity. In this round on Zonnebeke map I was running around 90 - 110 fps, and when going into ADS with the scope it would drop to around 50 - 70 fps depending on how much people on screen, if there was a lot of particles etc One thing about BTW is the smaller scale maps and not as many particles blasting around the place, give it a bit of an edge in terms of perf cost with PiP, even though it's still taxing. I have a fairly high spec PC though, people with low to mid range PC's would see sub 60 fps, especially that BTW has some optimization issues currently. The guy(Jhett) behind OWI's PiP + Eye relief prototype system, worked on BTW's implementation. So it is a good test bed to see how it plays out, gather additional data and potentially make tweaks for additional testing in Squad.
