CHORUS Let's study ratios, they compare values, you should know. A fraction is how it is shown, oh oh. Fractions are part of a whole, and proportions are equal ratios and unit rates are crucial so, sing along to this video. Math class heroes baby. If I was just another rational number on the board, would you tell me it's irrational and know for sure? Rational numbers are a fraction or an integer, they have a pattern, it's hard for you to ignore. A mixed number is an integer and a proper fraction. Let's talk about fractions, now let's take some action. Use it to show part of a whole, how it divides a number, that's the goal. The numerator on the top states how much you've got. Denominator on the bottom pieces of the lot. Everyday there are fractions in which you use. Divide a pizza into slices when you eat your food. CHORUS Oh, oh oh oh. x3 Sing along to this video. If I wrote a ratio would you know what it means? It's written as a fraction or a colon in between. Or in between the numbers can be the word "to" You need to know they compare different values. A proportion is when two ratios are equivalent For example 1/2 =5/10 A unit rate is a ratio of two measurements The second term is one of what value is present. If 10 miles in two hours was the runner's pace, 5 miles per hour would be the unit rate. Proportions and unit rates are ratios, too. Every single day they're put into use by you. My 6th graders love this song!! After two weeks the students were still having a hard time telling me about ratios.....so I played this over and over and over again until they memorized it and could then tell me all about ratios. One request.... more math songs, like this, for 6th grade content.

This reminds me of what happened a few days back XD our math teacher divided us into 6 groups and we had to parody a song and make the lyrics about math, strictly no searching. My group decided to use the Cup Song in the movie "Pitch Perfect" after a few other presentations, our teacher couldn't decide a winner so he divided us into 2 groups this time. We will do the same thing, but this time, it needs to be acapella, and Sir gets to decide the songs, the winner gets +20 points on their periodical exam. Our song was "Cheerleader" by OMI and we decided to mash up "Just the way you are" by Bruno Mars. When the presentations ended, Sir had us have a showdown. In the end, my group won, and we got the +20 points, and the other group got +15 points. It was very fun!
