Renowned Scottish musicians Norrie" Tago" MacIver with Siobhan Millerand and Highland Fire Ceilidh performing "The Rattlin' Bog" on stage in Inverness. This was part of their live performances during the Inverness Hogmanay celebrations, the Red Hot Highland Fling.
This was on Sunday 31st December 2023 as they got ready to welcome in the New Year 2024. The event was a fantastic celebration of music and dancing, thanks to the efforts of the organisers Bruce and Jo from MacGregor's together with the team from the The Highland Council.
Norrie "Tago" MacIver is a singer/songwriter from Carloway in the Isle of Lewis. He was the lead singer of Manran and later Skipinnish, appeared at festivals and venues all over the UK has toured the world. Siobhan Miller has earned numerous accolades, including four BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards' Scots Singer of the Year titles and a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Traditional Track.
"The Rattlin' Bog," a beloved Irish folk tune that has spanned centuries, where "Rattlin'" in this song means "splendid". The lyrics of "The Rattlin' Bog" are characterized by a repetitive structure, building on each verse and adding new elements to the cumulative story.
