Ray said he used the women's voices for strings, clarinets, higher instruments and men's voices during Trombones, Tubas, and lower rage instruments. Trumpets blended both men and women. That was the secret of his success.

I hadn't even been born yet when this was taped, and I've always loved Ray Conniff's music, even back in my younger days -- and I was a teenager during the 80's, no less. It's from a time when America was more civil, more laid-back, closer to God, and is orders of magnitude better than the absolute TRASH being produced today.

Merci m. manfred Thönicke, c'est mon cousin, en 1960, qui achetait ses disques 45 et 33t (en France ), il m'a fait connaître ce maître du rythme. Dans les années 90 au cours d'un voyage aux usa ma fille m'a rapporté 25 cd. J'ai toujours le même plaisir à l'écouter en hi-fi, sur Mp3 et maintenant sur smartphone, sur KZbin grâce à vous, c'est beau le progrès. Merci encore

OH MY GOD !!! I ALWAYS ....RAY AND CHORUS INCREDIBLE SOUND, MUSIC, INSTRUMENTS, HARP, PIANO....today 1 st August 2020 here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I still can hear this marvelous music, orchestra. Forever Ray in my heart. I was in theatre when Ray Conniff came to Buenos Aires in the 90's. Theatre " Grand Rex ". Thanks !!!

I started out watching because of interest in old programs of this format, and now am addicted to this program, which I've never been introduced to before. I've always appreciated the Ray Conniff-type singing idea, and seeing it happen is a thrill beyond a thrill. Thanks for posting, and I hope I can find more. Hi Manfred, I'm a 90's kid, I was born 1998, but Ray is one of my favorite singers because it was always played by my grandma every Sunday. thanks so much for posting their live performances, I wished you can post also a Christmas shows of them in long hours. I would love to watch it together with my grandma.

didn't expect to see another 90s kid enjoying this music, i however only just found Ray Conniff's music, and i'm loving it, it's funny though because normally i don't like music that doesn't have lyrics, but i kind of randomly came across this music while i was playing fallout 4, i have a set up to play music from youtube while i play my game and it was just background music for veriety, i liked the games music but after a while you want to expand on your horizons of listening and so i decided to find some amazing oldies playlists and allow youtube to pick and choose the videos, but i mostly like the longer form videos that span hours and hours if i can help it, because youtube has this stupid feature that turns off the music when you don't stop it or mess with your browser in anyway, it's an annoying thing but it is what it is.

What a discovery ! - I have been buying Ray conniff albums since 1965. Never heard "I'm always chasing rainbows" in this arrangement without the words. It was later released on the brilliant "Love Affair" LP and of course it was adapted from Chopin's Fantasia Impromptu.
