I just want to say that I have watched this video about a dozen times and never played Ubers, but the other day I was in Gen 1 Randbats and found myself in a Mewtwo mirror. Thanks to the advice in this video, I remembered that I should not twave the opposing Mewtwo to win the PP war. The opposing Mewtwo was a PsyBolt set so unfortunately they could not avoid paralyzing mine, giving me the win after 140 turns

I’ve rewatched this like at least 5 times now since it first came out I dodged it for like a week when it first appeared in my recommended lmao but here we are This is an amazing video and it’s led me to watching a bunch of your older videos playing SS OU and stuff (and ofc your newer videos) and it’s just a gold mine of entertainment Keep it up man

As someone who is new in Gen I, I find it funny how casually you say stuff like "Paralysis heal keeps the Speed drop" or "crits ignore your own positive stat modifiers", the games being broken weren't a meme at all

i want you to know that watching this video inspired me to start running ice beam on my gastrodon in gen 9 uu and fishing for random freezes has one me more games than i care to admit.

This was in any way possible rly good, from the actual knowledge to the video editing and presentation and jokes too. Right amound of each too. Good talking tempo too, sometime for my taste a little slow but could be just me. Would love to see more
@HumanReverend2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think I talk a little too deliberately sometimes but when I have to say like four different pokemon and move names in one sentence it takes 100% of my brain cells to say all the nonsense words in the right order

@@HumanReverend the only thing you make a strong point next time is emphasize how much of good checks Exeggutor and Slowbro are to Mewtwo and Mew. I honestly think they don’t get enough credit for being solid checks to one of the most fearsome Pokémon in existance

You know this video is a hood classic and an amazing video when the most rewatched part on the timeline is the beginning of the video

14:17 The fact that Psywave desyncs the game when used in multiplayer is my favorite demonstration of "Gen 1 Pokémon is held together with Elmer's Glue, popsicle sticks, love and the fact that you could possibly run RBY using 2 Launch Vehicle Digital Computers (the autopilot of the Saturn V Rocket)"
@Zero_Chaos Жыл бұрын
Agreed, and looking at things like the math formulas for stuff like catch rates shows me just how smart these ppl had to be to get this all working on a GB cart in the 90s.
@ThePe5e Жыл бұрын
To be fair, it is due to a really small mistake. The reason the PvP battles can desync with Pyswave is that one side has the chance to roll zero damage while the other can not. Just because the one line of code has greater than 0 and the other line has greater than or equal to 0. It was basically a typo.

15:09 I appreciate the comedy, but nonetheless, there is reasoning: The first line of Exeggcute's 1st Pokedex entry (Same in Red & Blue.) is "Often mistaken for eggs.". Stadium 1's entry clarifies it's "like the seeds of a plant.".Meanwhile, Soft-Boiled's original, Japanese name translates to "Egg Lay". The NPC who gives the TM also notes that only Chansey can learn it; Mew was likely an oversight due to being a late addition. In short, Exeggcute is not eggs, it's seeds/plant life that resemble eggs, & Soft-Boiled is laying an egg to eat, rather than cooking one. Hence Exeggcute, a bunch of plant seeds not being able to lay an egg in the middle of a battle to eat it. 15:48 Would it? It wouldn't resist Psychic, & that's a pretty big trade off for extra power on Body Slam & immunity to Paralysis from Body Slam. 29:11 Lol. Anyway, great analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
@HumanReverend2 жыл бұрын
A capped attack stat mew would hit a lot of important damage thresholds with STAB body slam and mew still gets two shot by +2 thunderbolt/ice beam from Mewtwo most of the time anyway, so I think it would be a net gain overall. Mew is played more like a wallbreaker here anyway. Exeggcute being a secret bean is very funny.
@sagacious032 жыл бұрын
@@HumanReverend Ah, neat! Thanks for answering! Interesting to know about Mew's role in that meta. (& as much as I hate admitting it, Exeggcute is technically a "bean", I suppose since beans are a type of seed. But also it's more like a hivemind of 6 or so beans moving as one, if you'll pardon my nitpicking, lol. ....Does that make Exeggcute a bean salad?)

Yeah it's the only "defunct" meta that I keep consistently coming back to. There's just so much charm in how wildly swingy and broken everything is, but still rewards strategy and long term planning. Also the sprites are hilarious
