Several years ago I purchased a Spektrum IX12 that came with a TBS crossfire. After watching this video and another one from Bob on testing 900 mhz with subs I found that with my TBS I could attach an external 2S lipo to the crossfire and I was able to get the output power up to 2w. After testing in a pond (4ft depth) I was able to be approx. 140 feet away from the water line before loosing signal. Ed, you are absolutely correct, tech. Is great as long as we learn how to use it. I will be fitting a new crossfire Nano rx in the big 1/48 Astute next week. Cant wait to test it out.

Awesome. Great Test. Would you try another test with salt water? It would be great to get some data about the deepth in salt water

Will not work in salt water. 900mhz isn't magic.

Tandem Tx/Rx will be the future for RC-Subs that’s neat.

Is Ed using the ACCST version or ACCESS version of the FrSky r9 equipment?

Hi. Maybe in future you will test some 433 mHz stuff for rc subs? Possible it will be better for underwater conditions

Yes, it would be. It also requires an amateur radio operator's license. No one will go to that trouble for an RC boat (or very few, at least)

I have been using my futaba 14mz for several years now and this tandem setup seems like a good upgrade when im ready. I just wonder if it has all the same features as a 14mz... one of the cool features to just name one, is the servo slow feature. Years ago this required a separate piece of hardware on the model itself to slow servos for like gear doors or torpedo doors in our case lol... but the 14mz has this built into the software and requires no additional hardware that would take up space or be a possible fail point.... if this tandem radio your featuring has similiar cool features i think this would be a good upgrade. Can you post links to the equipment you were referring to Ed?
