Not to burst your bubble but on a original TR-909 the hihat does not close as far as on a TR-09.

such an important feature to close the hat all the way!

In my opinion to have the whole spectrum of open - closed gives you a lot more possibility to nuance your hat decay time, which is essential for electronic music and groove🎉 so to just „switch“ to the closed one is a compromise…😢

That hi hat sample has been heard round the world billions of times and never got old That’s a sequence of 1’s and 0’s representing the varying voltage of an electrical signal generated by a microphone wavering from a hi hat (or maybe something else entirely) from the 1980s. Culture frozen in time.

You said you are a Timbaland fan but the reality is from my perspective is I’m not sure if I can be considering so much of his work is either plagiarized or outright stolen. I’m basically a fan of other artists that I thought was from Timbaland essentially.

I just don’t understand if you are going to go through all of the trouble to recreate this and even add features why would you not keep the settings as they were like the hi hat open/closed

well, you can program closed hat after it to close faster, it will choke. but its not a big deal, use closed hat if u want shorter hat

@@nym053 well they're marketing as specifically a 909 clone, so why doesn't it sound like a 909?
@nym0534 ай бұрын
@@ncapone87Don't ask me :) I would never expect an emulation to sound exactly as the OG, no matter what the companies makes of promises. And in the end it doesn't really matter. What matters is, does it sound good to you or not? One can't get the real deal without either paying a fortune or going the diy-outsourcing-theOG-parts route, which is not feasable for most people anyways. Go with what actually makes sense to you. If the RD9 doesn't (as an example), then don't go for it.

Looks nice, but it’s limited. It be great if these were able to get updated and were able to download other drums like the jd-xi. Plus, then you have to record it too, so at that point might as well just use a DAW since you’d be plugging it in the software anyway.
