So glad this came up in my recommended! I'd mused here and there about the actual Amaurot location on the Source for ages now, and wondered why the First's ruins were at the bottom of the ocean. Your theory sounds 100% on point to me -- I'd bet you turn out to be right! I also think it's interesting pondering how "innovations" from the likes of Allag and Garlemald keep revealing more about what Emet-Selch could have been up to while he shaped these nations over all these years. Bahamut and Dalamud mirroring Zodiark's own binding/prison, Azys Lla becoming a floating city might mirror your theory about Amaurot, and I've often wondered if Allag's royal memory transference techniques might've been created by Emet-Selch and have been messed with in Garlemald too (thinking of Zenos's actual memories/dreams of Amaurot, and Fandaniel taking note of it). Anyway can't wait to see how it all plays out in Endwalker! Subbed and liked due to your great evidence and presentation! Thank you!!

If the real Amarot was in fact a floating city then it would make sense that the music that kicks in when the WOL is winning is "Torn from the Heavens."
@shh532
@shh532 3 жыл бұрын
I think the music is another huge clue. All of the other zones revealed either used the theme from Endwalker or something new. However, the moment we see Mare Lamentorum, it's the iconic Amaurot piano. Giving that more importantly the way that theme is used when soft and gentle (rather than the dungeon and trial version) is as something of remembrance in the Norvrandt Amaurot, where we meet people like Hythlodaeus and are given the glimpse Emet is trying to show us as Azem. In that sense after Shb it feels like 'coming home' as it is a theme familiar to us, which can't be a mistake.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
Mare Lamentorum is definitely Amaurotine, I have no doubt about that. Neath Dark Waters is the leitmotif that plays in the Mare Lamentorum and the architecture is the same as Amaurot. The question is, is this island Amaurot. I firmly believe it is tbh. Which was probably obvious from the video lmao

iirc, when you find the first Amaurot ruins, Y'shtola comments thats its unlikely there's any ruins remaining on the Source due to Calamities reshaping *the land*. But if the Unsundered had tried to salvage what they could before starting to Ardor, it'd be safe up in the clouds. Is it an intact Amaurot? I think it's more likely that they rebuilt it as best as they could off existing ruins. The First's Amaurot may have been just Emet's brooding place or a creation he did just for the WoL to spend their final moments feeling 'home'

The threads you are pulling together are insane, in the best way! The fact that it was 12,000 years ago, the link to Chrono Trigger, the 3 wise men, the part about Zeal crashing into the sea being like the underwater city, clouds being in the cutscenes…Really great stuff. And I never would have noticed the similarities of the unnamed floating ruins to the Amaurot(s) under the sea, or Azys Lla. Brilliant.

Thank you! I worked really hard on this one so I definitely appreciate it. There’s so many parallels that are still there too. Like how Zeal’s destruction cause people to not be able to use magic and when Amaurot was destroyed and the world was sundered, people lost the ability to use the Echo except for in rare occasions. There’s so many signs pointing towards a lot of this.

One thing I want to say is that the major theme of Endwalker's new areas is "missing pieces of the puzzle" We've seen this in the fact that the areas and cities we are visiting are places that have been mentioned numerous times throughout the story that we have not fully seen, and I feel like the actual ruins of Amaurot very much fits with this theme.

I fully believe that she’s not the good person everyone makes her out to be. She claimed that “I am the *only one* that can become Hydaelyn’s heart”. But why? Lohgrif was supposed to be Zodiark’s heart, but the convocation changed it. If Zodiark’s heart could change like that, why couldn’t Hydaelyn’s. I think she had this planned from the beginning. And I think Fandaniel was a Judas type and betrayed the convocation with her.

The location of Amaurot in the 1st, is the location of Amaurot, once Emet is gone, you see the actual ruins of Amaurot that he built his dreamscape of. So, where ever that was in the 1st, is where it is on the Source, it would be cool if the city on the source floated, rather than being below the sea though.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
So my thing about that is, Amaurot wasn’t always under the sea. I think that they wanted to preserve part of it, and much like Azys Lla and its ability to float, which is also a product of Emet Selch’s empires, discovered a way to get part of it away from the elements. Their plan was to rejoin all the shards to the source, but the harsh effects on the landscape would completely destroy their home. So I think they chose the calamity of wind for the first one, so that they could float Amaurot into the sky, and use the intense winds to get it away from where it originally was. It’s odd that the floating continent is above where Emet built the Garlean Empire, and features Amaurotine architecture. That way, when they caused the other calamities, their home would be safe. There’s also the final line in Tomorrow and Tomorrow, which I find really suspect, “Eternal winds from the land ascend, Here to lift us that we won't end” Amaurot is also a city in Thomas More’s book Utopia. Anyder is also in that book, and it translates to, “no water”.

I also think that even if this theory ends up being inaccurate, a lot of the influences from past Square games like Chrono Trigger, FFXII, etc. on FFXIV can totally be seen in this video and I think are a testament to how much the FFXIV team really loves and pays tribute to the series and genre as a whole while also creating their own magnificent story and lore.

@@Soldier1stClass Ever since Ultima in the FF Tactics raids and the Void Ark, I have strongly believed that the whole doom of the world happened because voidal parasite aliens came to the planet and fed of the fear of the ancients, and them having a rich imagination and creation ability, ended up having their nightmares take form, so the void creatures finally had a form and way of creating more minions. Then when they summoned Zodiark, I believe it was again out of fear so he was "infused" with Void energy and thus also controlled by the fear parasites. I think that Hydaelyn was in response a desire for CONTROL and ORDER and thus Light. After the whole thing went down I feel like everything just laid dormant and over the years these parasites have been trying to make their way into our world. Things like Auracite which was generated from Ultima and her referring to us as our "maker" (i think it was) made sense because she and her kind ended up splitting us and creating the "New World". I kinda feel that after this whole arc with the ascians and the Zodiark/Hydaelyn is over, we're going to have more smaller stories but we'll probably slowly be building up towards some sort of Void Arc, where things like Diabolos and the Queen, The Crystal Tower/Cloud of Darkness and the Thirteenth, Amdapor and Ultima will all make more sense as part of a new enemy faction. It would make sense for them to do this given also how other Final Fantasy stories have dealt with the Void like FFXI (with the Shadowlord and such), as well as FF3, FFXV (the star scourge), heck even FF13 and I'm sure I'm forgetting even other FF games that have focused on Void-like factions.

While I don't think it is Amaurot, I do suspect this mysterious Ancient-looking floating city-state was responsible for the Sound, as per Zeal's Mammon Machine. In Amaurot, the shades recount how cities "across the pond" are suffering calamities, and they debate whether to intervene; for Zeal, they were at the very epicenter of Lavos's wrath. Likewise, to further support your theory of it being a Zeal analogue: Zeal was founded by "the Enlightened," humans that had discovered and were able to harness magic, while they abandoned "the Earthbound Ones," humans that were utterly incapable of using magic, on the surface. Humans utterly incapable of using magic. Garlean ancestors, predating even Goug? And the island just happens to hover directly above Garlemald (well, if it is indeed the odd structure on the map, anyway)... You didn't really go over this in the video that I noticed, but: why do you think Koji asked "Doesn't it have the same kind of fantastical feeling that Il Mheg in Shadowbringers had?" It doesn't really look that much like Il Mheg too, not so much as Sea of Clouds. But if he was referring to a general "fantasy" feeling... dreams were a very big thing in Il Mheg. The King could communicate through them, pixies communicated with mortals in them, Feo Ul could travel and visit distant worlds with them, in order for us to reach our retainers, or to instruct Tataru in making special outfits. In Zeal, they were described as "the eternal kingdom of Zeal, where even dreams come true," and one of the cities within Zeal is Enhasa, where they have people devoted to the "art of dreaming." I think this island might be key to how we facilitate travel between the First and Source (the Mammon Machine created dimensional rifts, after all); of course, such supposition relies on it actually *being* Zeal. It could be just a random floating Ancient city.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
There are definitely a lot of parallels to Zeal, and more than just what I put in the video but didn’t want to keep dwelling on any one part. The Koji thing, yeah, that is interesting but didn’t put too much thought into it, although knowing Koji and Yoshi P, I probably should’ve. You point out some really interesting points, and I could definitely see them adding more Zeal comparisons in Endwalker. Amaurot comes off very Zeal like to me in general just because of the way it feels when they talk about their abilities and ideals. I hope they really dive more into Amaurot and the ancients in Endwalker, which if my Venat theory is correct, they most certainly will.

@@Soldier1stClass sure thing! Please keep it up with lore and theory videos, btw. I think you're really observant and have a really good understanding of how details fit together as well as the sort of creative decisions that might be at play for various theories. It's rare that I see someone theorizing about ffxiv lore and its not tinfoil or just straight up ignoring very well established lore lol. You are actually able to spur my thoughts in directions i hadnt previously considered and its a rare gift so thank you :) Oh! And I def think that the floating continent is a ruined city of ancients, but its distance from the western ocean makes me think it's one of the cities of the ancients that we haven't seen yet rather than Amaurot. Another thing that makes me think it's not Amaurot but rather a different ancient city is the debate side quest in Amaurot where they refer to a "metropolis across the pond/sea" (they say both). It seems odd to me to say "across the sea" if you're on a floating continent, but it's still possible, ofc. Just makes me think its more likely to be one that fell before Amaurot. With that in mind, I was actually thinking it'd be cool if this one was an ancient city actually called Zeal- with Emet basing Allag on their infamous elitism and slavery habits etc bc he thought thatd be just the kind of civilization to bring about the chaos they love to create. Obviously, Azys Lla would be the most direct reference to Zeal on Emet's part.

something I have since the latest patch release, msq. When the Sharlayans come into play only to inform us that will not be involve nor will assist in anyway. I couldn't help but see that as the mirror image of the Ascians and their attitude for not helping their star, which unfortunately led to its destruction. May upcoming events seem to mirror too easily to what happened to amaurot. Could this be in a for Azem to finally do something where in the past they did not side with either force?
@heinerschmidt5472
@heinerschmidt5472 3 жыл бұрын
In my eyes there are some things that would be against that theory. Starting and ending with the obsession of Emet-Selch and his home city. In Shadowbringers he made - often enough - totally clear, that the ascians are the only worth to protect/revive and created a "copy" in the ocean. So, If Amaurot would be there, I guess Emet-Selch would have his "summer-house" there and purged all non ascians from it. Next step in a possible connection between flying Amaurot is Fandaniel: This crazy dude build with the help of manipulated garleans this weird place that looks like that alliance raid of HW. If that would be Amaurot flying close to Garlemald, as an Ascian he would have used that as his base, or not? Especially because he want to see the world burn and what would be a better place to do this as an island in the skies that was his former home in the past? And in my eyes, If he is doing that, why build that thing in Garlemald and why isnt the floating island not covered in this dark purple/black stuff? For me, ascians love all they were: The masterrace, their buildings and all the stuff. So even Fandaniel.. or especially him, would be in floating Amaurot to show Emet-Selch, Elidibus and the others that he is using and destroying the last thing of the ascians to destroy the first world. In my head, the allagans are like.. how to say.. the generation after the ascians. Like in the mythology, the ascians were gods and some had childrens ( after the stuff Zodiark and Hydaelin ) with humans ( hyur, pre hyur or what ever ). So they had the ascian technology or knowledge and build their cities all over the planet. So that would explain the gods too. Taken through history from the "parents" ( ascians ) up to the childrens ( all humanoid species ). I dont know If there are any good dates in the game, so how long the fall of Amaurot, the "era of the allagan" and the story of the games are on the timeline, but yeah. The main character could be the grand-grand-grand-period-grand-children of an ascian and thats why there is the connection we know. Sounds - as stupid as it sounds - like a better theory why "we" are Azem compared to.. I dont know.. we are just been choosen. And maybe that was the reason too, why we found the crystals.. or the crystals found us back in ARR. And - to go a step further in my connections: The "job crystals" ( dont know the english name and Im sorry for my english, not a native speaker :P ). We are, as the main character can synch with them super easly but some others can too. Like they are crystals of the first ascian + X generation/species. So every job crystal was the symbol and "mythology class" of a god ( ascian ) or half-god ( childrens of the ascian ). So those crystals dont synch with everybody and our connection is the strongest. Like Archilles, or Hercules.. just.. scholar and warrior or something. And the allagans just copied as good as possible the stuff they know from the ascians and over the years and ages they created their own style. But yeah, I guess we will see. Maybe the name of the floating city is Zanarkand or New-Midgar and FF14 is doing lore connections to all FF games :D

I was thinking the exact same when I saw that concept art. As you mentioned, it has either always been floating, or I was wondering if maybe Emet (and perhaps Eli and Lahabrea also helped), raise it in the air to help preserve it for when they would have to cause calamities. They wouldn't want to further damage their original home if it was on the ground. EIther way, I'm super excited to find out the truth of it all! I sense impending heartbreaking revelations to come. (Can we please just somehow get the convocation and the Amaurotines back and just plop them down in their old Amaurot and let them live in peace once untempered from Zodiark. T^T That's all I want.)

They love to throw in little foreshadowing hints for us to find. An example is the Grandmother up with the Mol tribe on the Azimme/ Azem Steppe. If you interact with her she always has something interesting to say. Before Shadowbringers dropped she would comment that she perceived a bit of darkness in you...or always made a big deal about you being the "traveller". Now that 5.55 has dropped, I'll have to make a stop up there to see if her dialogue has be updated. Also, relative to the true Amaurot. If you did a certain sidequest in the construct city, there was an off the cuff comment by one of the created Amaurtines about how he screwed up while creating a white lion. Apparently, an eagle landed while creating the construct and distracted him such that the creation became a white lion with an eagle's head. He was describing the creation of a Griffin. As far as I know, the only location you will find a Griffin is in Ala Mhigo. That being said I'd take a more simple approach as to the original location of Amaurot. Ask yourself this....why did the Ascian who founded the Empire choose Garlemald as it's center? Has it ever been explained as to why pure blooded Garleans cannot use magic and have a third eye? That seems like a poor choice for one of the most magical beings ever to exist to start his empire building exercise. Why start off at a disadvantage unless there was a more sentimental reason for doing so. And, let's not forget that the original sundering description from another Amaurtine construct points out that one of the symptoms of the full blow sundering was the loss of their ability to use creation magics.

Why would emet pick the garleans to create a world threatening empire? Just look at nazi germany. They were just a group of people living in the right conditions to be easily molded into a conquering war machine.

If Amaurot was on the first, it's on the source too, imho. Another bit of supporting evidence is song sang from Ascian pov, To The Edge "Like broken angels, wingless, cast from heaven's gates (Our slumbering demons awake) We only fly when falling, falling far from grace (Hell take us, heaven can wait) And like a message in a bottle cast to sea (Disgrace, untold and unseen)" We see they talk about falling when the slumbering demons awoke and being cast from heaven, implying that Amaurot could've fallen from the sky during the final days, and crashed into the sea (our lives a message in a bottle cast to sea) where you now see the remnants of their civilization.

my theory was that old sharlayan was based off of ancient amaurotine ruins, because from your last theory video, you pointed out there's a lot of similarities between the two, plus if they had extremely advanced ruins to base their homeland off from, it'd only make sense that sharlayans are the most skilled in magic. yours is a great theory and it kind of contradicts my own theory on this matter, but depending on how it's dealt with, the majority of amaurot could be in the sky while some have sank down below as you mentioned which could be sharlayan, but yeah. great theories by the way, love how they're all compelling and that it's backed by evidence.

While it may not be Amaurot, it may be another city of the Ancients. Considering the Shards, at their creation, were exact copies of each other, I'm guessing that Amaurot is likely unrecognizable rubble (due to the many Calamities) in the bottom of the Indigo Deep, just like it is on the First. Still if one city survived even if it's not Amaurot, I'd still want to check it out. Specially since it may explain what happened to the survivors, after all one fourth of their population did survive past all the sacrificing. And while diminished in power, they still retained their knowledge and thus likely would be seen as gods. That is unless Hydaelyn either killed or erased their memories when she sundered the world, which would be a whole other level of atrocity.

It's unlikely that the floating island city is Amaurot given that we know Amaurot on the First sits in the Tempest, which is the equivalent of our ocean around La Noscea. Our NPC buddies speculated back in 5.0 that people on the Source hadn't found these sorts of ruins because the Calamities wracked the land and destroyed all vestiges of past civilizations over the millenia. That being said, since Kholusia is an exact analog to La Noscea, then the source's Amaurot is somewhere south of Limsa Lominsa under the sea. That being said, it's definitely of Ancient origin, and probably another city in general. All that being said, the dungeon preview's final dungeon segment shows an area where drastically different climates are right next to each other (you can see desert, tundra, forest, and magma all right against each other, divided by barriers), and the massive concept matrices we saw in Amenesis Anyder are floating near bridges. The preview continues inside the structure, which shows smaller matrices and the bones of some avian species near a jumble of empty nests. My guess would be that this dungeon was a staging area to breed lifeforms to repopulate the planet following the Sundering, like some sort of ark.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
Your first point is why I believe that Amaurot is in the sky now. To protect what was left of Amaurot in the source, they lifted the city, much like the Allagans did with Azys Lla (not for the same reason, but Emet started that empire too so the comparison is there). They then caused all the calamities. But what’s interesting to note, is that the first calamity was of wind, which could’ve pushed the floating city over to where it currently rests, over the Garlean Empire. This would protect it from the calamities, as the rest were on a surface level such as ice, floods, fires, etc. This could ensure that when they finally rebuilt their city, that they could use the old city as the basis. We also know that the same concept crystals in that dungeon, are the ones in Anamnesis Anyder. Anyder in Thomas More’s Utopia translates to “no water.” Which can mean multiple things, but, that book + Shakespeare is where a lot of what we see in the first with Amaurot is pulled from. Including Anyder, Hythlodaeus, and Amaurot itself, with The Tempest being from Shakespeare. I believe, like everything that was on the source pre Sundering, Amaurot itself was also split into 14 shards. Some remained on the source, some was placed in the shards. Between Calamities and Time, some of it was destroyed, but I do believe the unsundered had a plan to restore the city once the rejoinings were complete, so that they had a home to return to.

Good video and predictions! There is a good chance that you hit some of these spot-on. My personal guess was that the real Amaurot is actually "on the moon". Amaurot was destroyed by the voidsent during which part of Amaurot fell onto Haedelyn. And when Haedelyn smote Zodiark, the remains of Amaurot eventually became the physical jail for Zodiark which become the moon. Part of the reason why Emet Selch created an image of Amaurot in the tempest was that part of Amaurot fell there and also because of the geographical, and in this case, the biological similarity between the bottom of an ocean and the surface of the moon.

As far as they know, Venat has been a part of Hydaelyn the whole time. Hydaelyn has talked to us without ever showing us Venat at all. I’m assuming that Venat has been scheming for a long time, and recently broke free from Hydaelyn because now all of the Unsundered are out of action. Or at least we believe they’re gone anyway. I’m not so sure they’re gone for good. But I feel as though Hydaelyn “inspired” the Sharlayans to build the city. If we look at Amaurot in the first, Anamnesis Anyder is located somewhere near where Old Sharlyan is on the source. It’s possible that Venat, who was in the Anamnesis Anyder, knew this would be the perfect place for Sharlayan because of where Anamnesis Anyder was located.

@@Soldier1stClass Sorry to tag along on this comment a week later; this whole topic is just so interesting! Your comment here about Hydaelyn talking to us has me so curious. I have been thinking a lot recently about how Venat's voice sounds SO SIMILAR to Hydaelyn's. Assuming the glowing woman with the mask is actually Venat and not Hydaelyn (and the fact that Minfilia has been the Word of the Mother and her voice is different from Hydaelyn's), is it possible that throughout all of our journeys, the one guiding us was never actually Hydaelyn, but Venat herself? I rewatched the intro where we first meet Hydaelyn and she speaks in first person, but I just have the strangest feeling that it's Venat who's acting as Hydaelyn after hearing that their voices are so similar. I am sooo ready to find out how long Venat has been outside of Hydaelyn. It's going to be so much fun figuring out Venat's true intentions! I am also kind of curious about Minfilia: why her as the Word of the Mother when Venat already exists? Could Venat have some scheme involving her? Maybe to get closer to us? Omg, I rewatched the intro again while typing this and the part of Hydaelyn that speaks to us is a smaller sized Crystal, which could totally possibly be the Heart!!!!! Probably just a coincidence haha but fun nonetheless.

Great theory, however there is a big problem with it. "On top of Garlemald" is not where Amarout was located/destroyed. Unless we're to assume that whole structure could float around the world like a big airship and flew away after sustaining some damage during final days. So, assuming that The First is a perfect copy of The Source sometime during the final days, Amarout was fully or patially destroyed somewhere west of Vylbrand. We also know that Anamnesis Anyder is located somewhere /relatively/ close to the ruins and most importantly built there, instead of looking like it fell down from the sky. With that in mind and your Venat theory we can come to an interesting conclusion: Nobody in their right mind would go in the middle of the hecking ocean right after surviving the flood UNLESS they are told by a godlike power to do so and unless there is something to find around Old Sharlayan... Something like Anamnesis Anyder... That's full of ancient knowledge and theories about final days. And that knowledge is what prompts them to build a bunker somewhere deep underground in hopes to sit out inevitable return of the final days. So where does it leave our mysterious floating city? Considering how lush it looks and how many aether pools there are, maybe it was supposed to be, if you excuse my Fallout terminology, a "G.E.C.K." - Garden of Eden Creation Kit, or simply a place that contains everything required to bring life back to the star wiped out by the final days. Maybe it was built as a back up plan in case summoning of Zodiark (or Hydaelyn) would not bring results. And maybe Venat expected bunker Sharlayans to use it once final days are over.

Well, much like Azys Lla, which I assume can be moved, I would also assume this floating continent could be moved in some way. We also don’t know what the sundering actually did besides give us 14 separate shards, and split the people and locations. Maybe only part of Amaurot is in the first, maybe all of it is. But I’m under the assumption that there’s pieces of it located in different shards. This floating continent could still be Amaurot, but only the part that survived on the source. I also don’t believe Venat is a good person either. She claimed that she was the only person that could be the heart of Hydaelyn, but why? Originally Loghrif was supposed to be the heart of Zodiark, but they went with Elidibus instead. So why is she the only one that could do it. It feels like she’s up to something more than just being Hydaelyn’s heart. Like she has some ulterior motive. Something I think relates to Fandaniel if I’m being honest.

Just like Emet built Garlemald with specific purpose of causing rejonings and with no expectation that they would survive said process, I can see Venat raising Sharlayans as perfect livestock willing to sacrifice themselves to feed Hydaelyn's growing needs. It would also explain Fourchenault's "We must." line - meaning he believes that Sharlayan nation was chosen by Hydaelyn/Venat to inherit the star and they *must* survive to achieve their destiny.

And if you look at the trailer during the forum segment with Fourchenault, the center of the forum is detached, and if you count the seats, there’s 13 with Fourchenault in the center as the 14th. Interesting theory. And it is very interesting that MAYBE something in FFFXIV is connected to Chrono Trigger and perhaps Chrono Cross... We've already seen that the First is the world of FFXII. AND we've seen that there IS a world of FFXI somewhere nearby, with at least one FFXI hero able to get into the Source somehow. I think what they are trying to do is to make FFXIV a huge integral universe that contains EVERY OTHER FF worlds and not only FF, but also Chrono Trigger/Cross and... maybe even our real world? If you're old enough to remember how Chrono Cross ended, what was shown in the scene after credits, you'd know there WAS already one direct hint that Chrono series worlds ARE connected to our world... FFXIV already has a tremendously interesting story, but they can make it even better and I don't why they should not do it.

Cool theory, but there’s some things that contradict it, such as why emet selch went to the first to remember his home, and not the source to live in the remains of it. When I saw the art work, I strangely thought “chocobo’s air garden”, because of the t shirt of fat chocobo, and just the image. By that I don’t mean literally the place, but a drifting floating island, that can’t be reached. For all we know, this place is summoned forth, or is in the aether, and it’s a place where well find “hydalyn”, I think you might be right about it being amaurot, but I’m not convinced enough that the place is “real”, but meh, might be wrong. Can’t wait to find out though. Heck, for all we know, this place is actually in the moon.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
Emet was in the first because that was the shard he was in charge of. Yes there are ruins from Amaurot there, but we have to remember that there should technically be Amaurotine ruins on every shard too since the landmass also splits, much like anything that existed before the sundering. I think this island is just a piece of the original Amaurot being preserved. Or at least away from the harsh results of the calamities. I also believe there’s two reasons this continent is above Garlemald. 1) Emet Selch started the Garlean Empire, and that would make this version of Amaurot impossible to reach. And 2) like I said, it protects it from the calamities. And I also want to point out that the first calamity was of wind. If Amaurot was made to float in the sky, then it stands to reason that the convocation used the first calamity to move Amaurot where they needed it.

If i remember right there is a bit more lore to why they summoned hydaelyn. As far as i remember the convocation planned on using zodiark again after the first summon thus sacrificing again half of the population cause of the damage the final days brought upon the star. Also if i am not mistaken and remember right the lower races (maybe the sentient life?) was created through the calamity and the convocation planned on sacrificing them to bring their fallen brothers (and sisters) back. I think that would be a fairly important point since you let it sound like hydaelyn was summoned after the first summon of zodiark without further reason which is probably not the case but i am sure we will get much more lore to this in endwalker. So yeah it's a bit misleading to say the peace didn't last cause hydaelyn was summoned since with the second sacrifice in mind and the "lower" races that also were about to be used in not so pleasant ways let it seem there was not much peace to begin with.
@ranaku603
@ranaku603 3 жыл бұрын
I looked it up so "Though the Calamity was averted, Zodiark enthralled the Convocation who sacrificed another half of their race to restore their lifeless world to habitability. A faction of these remaining Ancients under Venat disapproved of Zodiark's presence along with the Convocation's plans to harvest the lives of the new races that would develop on the planet in the future to resurrect those they had sacrificed." shows exactly how much "peace" they broke with summoning hydaelyn.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t misleading anyone with that statement. These videos are already over 10 minutes long, and explaining the entire backstory of it would take much longer. The reason I say the peace didnt last is because to the Amaurotines, they were trying to piece things back together after the final days. The final days were over, but their plan wasn’t. The convocation didn’t know that Hydaelyn was about to be summoned, so there was a slight time of peace after the final days was over. Maybe “peace” isn’t the proper word, but people knew what I meant, as you’re the only person who’s taken issue with the terminology. I wasn’t purposely misleading anyone about it.

@@Soldier1stClass Dang sorry if i sounded too harsh, was really not my intention at all. Just wanted to point that out for players who might not know about the backstory that well and might get the wrong impression that the summoning of hydaelyn was inherently bad. And i am neither a hydaelyn nor zodiark fanboy, they sacrificed 3/4 of their population and planned on sacrificing the life that was about to bloom, so half the population was kinda wrong. Half and half again are 3/4 of the original population not half. But as i said no hard feelings, i really didn't wanted to sound rude or anything. And by the twelve i would never think you would mislead on purpose, if it "sounded" (cause it's text lol) that way i apologize.

Yes, the average fan is probably gonna miss the in between beats, so I try to make these videos as player friendly as possible to get the point across. If I were doing a video on the actual conflict between them (something I’m considering) I would’ve gone more in depth but as these things go, people lose attention quickly, so you have to capitalize on the time that you get to hook people into the theory aspect. I set the basis of the theory, then follow through. Sometimes things get lost in translation, much like they did here. You’re by far not the first to correct me, nor are you the worst by a mile either lmao some people take issue with way more minuscule things than this. I think your theory is about 100% correct. I just disagree with one thing you said. You say that the Twelve are somehow related to the convocation members, using Azeyma as an evidence. I believe they are not. If you go back to the 5.2 scene where Venat is revealed, she is talking to the group that summoned Hydaelyn, and they are 12 Ancients. I believe the 12 gods are those 12 people, not the convocation. Also, I remember Emet saying "by your Twelve" at some point, which was interesting, and a weird line for him to say if the Twelve were his own crew including himself...I know some people have been saying that Emet and Hythlodaeus could be Nald'Thal, but him saying that "by your Twelve" makes it really weird. The question that remains then is : were Azem and Azeyma/Azim different persons? Or did Azem actually leave the convocation and join Venat? Also, since Azem is a title, not a name, I could imagine that the Hydaelyn's crew "copied" some of the convocation naming convention. You know, I even think Fandaniel is linked to that. The convocation had 14 members (including Elidibus and Azem). The Hydaelyn team had 13 members (including Venat, and, if I am right, Azeyma) Which means, there is one less member. What if the title of Fandaniel is the one that was not represented at Venat's side? Maybe there is a reason for that, and maybe this is why he wants to destroy Hydaelyn. Maybe he wanted to join the H-team, but got rejected by Venat and asked for a seat in the Z-team instead...
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
So, the reason I believe they’re based on the convocation is because of certain things that Urianger states after you come back to the source. He discusses with you the implications of Azem, Azim, and Azeyma. In all mythologies surrounding these people, they have to do with the sun. Azeyma’s symbol is our symbol but with a semi circle looking line underneath it. Azem is the convocation member related to the sun. There’s also the chart of aetherology in the encyclopedia Eorzea which depicts a sun with many stars around it, and we’re the “Shepherd to the stars”. However, this chart is from Sharlayan points of view, and they would favor the twelve obviously over the convocation. While it’s possible that Venat made her own convocation, something I’ve actually theorized, I don’t think they would mix that up like that specifically. I think it would cause too much confusion. That and we’re getting a raid series about the 12, so I’m assuming this is where we’re going to discover more about our own heritage and past. He could be saying , “by your twelve” as an insult since he considers all things not related to the convocation or his home to be, “less than desirable or broken husks”. Much like let’s say, an atheist might say to a Christian, “by your God” sarcastically. He’s mocking Eorzean religion, because he knows who they’re based off of, and believes their achievements pale in comparison to what Amaurot was capable of at full strength.

@@Soldier1stClass Yeah that's also fair, but it would also not be the first time Urianger and aetherology are wrong (I mean, it took him years to figure out that we all have Astral and Umbral mixed up). I really think there has to be some relevance in the fact that Venat had 12 friends with her. I guess 6 months is all we need to figure this out :)

So I have a theory Azem is the reason why Hydaelyn won her battle against Zodiark. I think Azem was there trying to help people as the primals duked it out. Zodiark was indiscriminate in its attacks seeing it as just one more it needs to raise, while Hydaelyn took pains to defend and shelter as she was made to protect life and keep Zodiark in check. Seeing this Azem stepped in and for one single moment stopped Zodiark's attack holding it off much like the battle with Susano. Hydaelyn smote through us to strike and sunder Zodiark making us the center point for the sundering which is why we are so special we are the line that connects everyone and the line that said no even to a god. And every single soul touched by the sundering knows this to their core even if they dont recall it. Something very close to this is what I think we are going to find out.
@Soldier1stClass
@Soldier1stClass 3 жыл бұрын
So the major issue with this is that Azem didn’t agree with either side, and even left the convocation because of it. There’s also the fact that once Emet Selch knew who we were, he would’ve probably mentioned how were the reason Hydaelyn won. Or would’ve brought it up in the cave where he told the story. Emet was there, so I kinda doubt Azem did anything to intervene.

@angryhalfasian3651
@angryhalfasian3651 3 жыл бұрын
@@revanninja I first became aware of it due to a Japanese player posting on Reddit and then hearing it echoed in one of my Discord channels with JP speakers. So in English, when he first sees us from afar, he says "with a soul like that," making it sound like he's referencing our type of soul or perhaps strength of soul - some quality that makes us malleable to negotiation. In the Japanese and Chinese versions, however, he actually straight up says "the owner of that soul." I'm not sure about the Japanese here, but in Chinese, he goes on to say because of the owner of that soul, 不过这样一来, 说不定还有你死我活以外的选择 - maybe there's another choice where we don't have to kill each other/be mortal enemies. This makes a lot more sense in the context of who we are a reincarnation of (Azem - who as far as we know, did not side with Zodiark or Hydaelyn, and someone who also seems to affect Fate in big ways - hence him exploring the possibility of another path). What happens throughout core ShB makes a lot more sense - he occasionally shoots us strange admiring looks, he refers to us as "our dear friend" to G'raha , comments on us not remembering Amaurot (when we could've easily been an Ancient from somewhere else), gives us an interesting look when he says he's lost friends and loves (this whole convo seems even heavier in JP - he says something slightly different and seems very put out that even if he told us, we wouldn't remember), and seems to want us to survive to be his equal (in this context, presumably to get his friend back). When you speak to Hythlodaeus in Amaurot, the English version of this one line is: "Surely Emet-Selch has recognized the hint of “him/her” in you…?" In Japanese however, it is slightly different and there is an additional clause that is missing from the English: "Surely Emet-Selch, too, must have realized who you are.…? He remains fond of/attached to him/her, after all." Interestingly, there is this line from an interview with Yoshi-P regarding "phenomenal characters" in ShB that was was part of an answer to a question regarding Emet Selch: ""The thing they have in common is that they are all watching you, the main character, sharing your emotions, have love towards you, sometimes jealous, but they have their own opinion."" I think the whole reason Emet-Selch even gave the WoL a chance was because we were a more-rejoined-than-not reincarnation of one of his dearest friends - so dear to him that he created a forbidden Convocation Seat stone for them, as well as someone who had a history of affecting fate. Had we been someone else, he probably wouldn't have hesitated to crush us immediately. Slightly tangential, I suspect Hythlodaeus was not an accident and was there as part of one of his backup plans.
