I lived near Lake View for a couple of years in the 1960s. Great little town until the 'troubles' started.

both myself & my brother spent many happy summers on holiday in a place called Keenerboys Castle blayney in 1967 to 1973 ish. Our late parents were from this, then, wonderful part of Ireland. I would dearly love to re visit Castle blayney, as an adult, if only to re capture those many happy memories of a more innocent time in our lives. I have some treasured & happy memories of this part of the Island of Ireland . Thanks for uploading this vid. It was nice to re visit my heritage

Unreal. many a great time amd memories i had in 'the castle' over the years. its so sad to see it in this state. it brings a lump to my throat. 'true blayney' youngsters would not have done this. its not the way we were brought up. this was the jewel in the crown round blayney for years!!! As for 'Felie's' and the 'lakeroad'!!!!!!!!! whats going on? its time 'the people' reclaimed the town before its too late!! Well done for high lighting it. some great clips and great memories. Thanks.

................................. I am sure if a group was set up to address these issues the young people of Castleblayney wouldn’t be found wanting. We have to remember that we have only a loan of the assets of the town from the next generation. It’s up to us to make sure that we respect and value what OUR TOWN has given us.

Just to set the record straight, this video wasn’t made to highlight an anti-social behavioural problem by the young people in the town of Blayney. We all as citizens in the town share some responsibility to the serious neglect to some of Castleblayney’s most prised assets. The aim of the video was to show how bad things have got, and to hopefully make people from the town realise the great tangible assets we have here in Blayney.........................

its very sad to see this video - but it needed to be seen! we get used to things as they are when we see them all the time,, this is a reality check - hope something good will come from it - maybe a new committee set up??

Very sad indeed. Its easy to think we are progressing as people but looking at this it looks like we've gone backwards. We need to sack the council, they dont have a clue, most of them anyway, not all.

can any one tell me if Culloville post office and does , Keenerboys still exists. As i remember, it was virtually right on the border between co monaghan and the north of Ireland. Was last there in 1973 On holiday, as a kid. Sadly ,I was the other side of the border in 1981, as part of my job for a totally different reason.
