that "seeing games differently" is one thing i've always been worried about getting into anything related to game development. going back to the type of games you previously liked, is it still entertaining to play them?

I have more fun now watching other people play games. It’s kind of like watching a movie you know? But otherwise I do still enjoy rpgs again though now that the burnout is gone ☺️

QAing a game is like having the character run into a wall and trying to bump into objects 🥲

@Kimbuucha Thank you so much for responding to my question! I absolutely loved the video!!! I am delayed to seeing your video but its because I got my first qa job in healthcare in the last 8 months, been focused on that. The thought of video game industry has been following me like a shadow but I lost my breath when you said $7.5/hr lololol maybe i should gain experience elsewhere and then try to go into game industry as a Sr./Principal lol to make it financially worth it.😅 I loved this video so much I would love to hear about other industries you have experience in 🙏 And another idea for the video is salary expectations for different experience level of QAs, all the ranges are so wide and wild online! Maybe tips on how to negotiate 🤩

Man I MISS being a game tester, I was working for a small developer that has since gone under, but I'd love to go back.
@Kimbuucha8 ай бұрын
Oh what I didn’t know that! Sounds like you had a much better experience than I did if you want to go back!

I do feel bad for QA Testers in all of the ranks cause I feel like that they don't get the credit they deserve. Point out crucial bugs that the dev team needs to fix before release and they still didn't get fixed and the gamers end up blame you guys for missing it. Or when it comes to certain creative decisions you guys don't have any say so in the matter and that sucks.
@Kimbuucha8 ай бұрын
Yeaaaa I didn’t even mention those points! Spot on! Definitely don’t miss getting blamed for bugs that got punted. But yea, not really having a seat at the table when it comes to anything around gameplay or design definitely makes you feel like you aren’t really a part of the team.

I'm not a QA analyst, but I'm a business analyst that does QA testing and the dev and I have a good work relationship. He's complimented me numerous times and he's respectful. Company culture is what determines that and my company is very welcoming and chill.

Hi there, cool video very informative, i've got an interview on this job, any ideas on how to tackle the questions and prepare oneself?

I've taken a QA self pace boot camp and I've become very interested in gaming QA Analyst. I've came from pro and college sports soo I'm use to the DONT SPEAK rules or share photos hopefully I can learn more from your site and seeing a black woman be in gaming I stay in white male dominated field idk how or why but I love it bc of the competitiveness in me to prove ppl I truly belong.
@Kimbuucha3 ай бұрын
Hi there! I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond back to your comment. I think the industry could use more black women, as we can provide different perspectives and experiences to teams and even games themselves. I will say, in my 3-4 years when I was in gaming I never felt like my race was an issue or felt that it was more difficult for me. Oddly enough, the gaming industry (at least at the time) was very welcoming to all walks of life. I will say though, depending on what game you're on, you may get side eyed because you're a woman. For example, when I would work on some of the AAA sports titles, sometimes the men would be skeptical because "women don't play sports games" 😒. I hope you otherwise have a similar experience. Starting as an analyst and working your way up could lead to a great career path. If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to reach out and I wish you all the best.

I def will I am just trying to find someone to help me with my resume im struggling to get it just right.

Hello! I'm a QA software tester but I'd like maybe to try video game testing. I'm not an expert on automation but is there some automated tests for video game testing or it's mostly manual testing? Thanks!
@Kimbuucha4 ай бұрын
Hey! So sorry I'm getting back to you so late. I don't have much experience writing automated tests for video games but I do know they exist and have looked into positions. They lean more towards roles called SDETs and they generally program in languages like C# and use tools like Unity for automated tests (at least from what I've gathered). I'd say you're more likely to find manual testing positions over technical / automated ones in the gaming industry because they're still catching up in my opinion to having dedicated technical engineers for testing but they're out there. You'll want to look at specific game studios for these roles though (Bungie, Blizzard, etc). Best of luck of your search :)

How could I get started on being a AQ
@neffyjay8 ай бұрын
Hi, I am currently transitioning into the QA industry as a Manual QA. I finished a tech boot camp last year and I am having a hard time getting into the industry. I plan on going back to school later this year to learn automation and I wanted to know if it’s ok if I email you about some questions I have? Thank you!
@Kimbuucha8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I’m sorry to hear you’re having a tough time getting into the industry but it’s been a rough couple of years for literally everyone trying to get a job so don’t think it’s you. Feel free to shoot me an email though 💓
