THIS STORY:
The aircraft was named after pilot Robert K Morgan's sweetheart, Margaret Polk, a resident of Memphis, Tennessee.Morgan contacted George Petty at the offices of Esquire magazine and asked him for a pinup drawing to go with the name he had picked out, which Petty supplied from the magazine's April 1941 issue. The 91st's group artist, Corporal Tony Starcer, copied the Petty girl as art on both sides of the forward fuselage, depicting her suit in blue on the aircraft's port side and in red on the starboard.
Memphis Belle is a Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress used during the Second World War that was one of the first United States Army Air Forces heavy bombers to complete 25 combat missions. The aircraft and crew then returned to the United States to sell war bonds. In 2005, restoration began on the aircraft at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio where, from May 2018, it is now on display.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Poor Desmond was accidentally shot by a friend when they were riding around in a car. The large mausoleum was very unwelcoming. But the cemetery was amazing to wander through with you. Many thanks from Australia.

The plot with the flag. The couple buried there died the same day. He was 1923-2010, and she was 1924-2010, both December 9, 2010. It seemed he was a doctor and devoted his later life to taking care of his invalid wife. He refused to leave her side when there was a fire in their home, and they both perished.

I so like the way you walk the cemeteries, and pause to see the stones, giving snippets of information when it's available. Your voice is calm, and clear, making it easy to understand what your saying. There is so much history, and educational value in cemeteries for everyone. I knew about the Enola Gaye, {hope I didn't misspell} but little of the Memphis Bell. Margaret was a lady, and a go getter. I love that era, the ladies dressed like ladies, and men wore suits. Everyone looked like a million bucks. Thanks Ron

Talking about going through the ground and into a coffin, that is pretty much what a friend of mine had happen to him, he is in actual fact a KZbinr and his channel name is Exploration Unknown, he goes to various places doing abandoned etc and he also does paranormal investigation's. He was at a really old cemetery in Tennessee just walking and talking when he fell through and it was during a livestream I believe, he was mortified. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx💖

The boarded up structure is called a Keeping Vault. When they used to dig graves by hand, during the winter the ground was frozen and they couldn't, so they would keep the dead in that "Keeping Vault" until the ground would thaw in the spring and they could then bury them.

If your ever going through Memphis again you should visit Elmwood Cemetary. Its filled with lots of history and stories of people buried there. The monuments are amazing.

I found that lovely, boarded up structure on a Historic Memphis site. Seems it was a Receiving Vault where bodies were kept until burial, and hasn't actually been used as a crypt. Which scares me a bit to think of people walking around on that if the floor is giving way! I do hope they restore it some day, it is quite beautiful.

The couple in front of the Knight memorial died the same day. Their last name is Wills. I wanted to know their story and come to find out, they died in a house fire. They were married 61 years.

So sad how they let these mausoleums let go to disrepair ,,and that they write on the walls 😢, how disrespectful , to desecrate these sacred buriel places ,,,

I love going to cemeteries and looking around at all the graves. I have been all over the world and seen graves that go waaay back to before the middle ages and Viking burial mounds, everything. Very cool and fun.

My Father Fred, a WWII Veteran, his best friend, Ralph, and my brother Chris met Bob Morgan the pilot of The Memphis Belle about 10-12 yrs. ago. He appeared in Frederick, Maryland @ the airport with The Confederate Air Force. He was glad to sign his autograph for my Dad.

Thank you Ron, I wait all the time for your new videos you truly add to my day.
