I hope you go to Mexico City , Mexico City can be overwhelming because it is so big, but there are so many awesome places there. When you go to Mexico City have a churro at El Morro, taco el pastor, go to the templo mayor (the aztec capital) , and visit Chapultepec park.

Palenque is a city and municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas in southern Mexico. The city was named almost 200 years before the nearby Mayan ruins were discovered in the 18th century. The area has a significant indigenous population, mostly of the Ch'ol people, a Mayan descendant. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

What a coincidence, I was just learning about Palenque. Seems it is worth it to stay in the town itself. I love Oaxaca but want to travel around Chiapas next time. I guess they eat Tlayudas in Chiapas too.

Glad you enjoyed the video, the city of Palenque is definitely growing. The food was fun, I have been to both Chiapas and Oaxaca and they are different but in a good way. Have fun exploring.

@@pedrozatravel Oaxaca is unique in the degree to which old culture is preserved and united with the present, especially through artistic activities and festivals. How would you say Chiapas compares in those respects?
@pedrozatravel
@pedrozatravel 6 ай бұрын
@@NickHchaos Oaxaca and Chiapas both have a rich heritage but they are very unique. Chiapas is very rural and there is the whole Mayan influence, this is different from Oaxaca which was Zapotec. Chiapas is interesting because many people in Chiapas identify more as a Chipaneco than as a Mexican. Also, Chiapas' capital city of Tuxla Gutiérrez is different because it was developed after the revolutionary War. There are however some Spanish remnants in Chiapas del Corzo and San Cristóbal de las Casas.
@NickHchaos

@@pedrozatravel Interesting. I've also heard that because it is the poorest state but San Cristobal is still quite nice that it is "only for tourists," or just where people "go to party." And is it true that the Zapotecs split off originally from a part of the Mayans? Or unrelated?
@pedrozatravel
@pedrozatravel 6 ай бұрын
@@NickHchaos the Zapotec started around the time the Mayans started to disappear. They evolved separately, but I am sure they were influenced by the Maya. The Zapotecs were more like an evolution of the Toltecs, just like the Aztecs. The Zapotecs and the Aztecs actually fought each other a lot and even after the Spanish came it took like 20 years for the Spanish to completely destroy the Zapotecs.
