"THE REAL POLAR EXPRESS" | The Pere Marquette

On December 16th and December 27th. Me and ‪@chendersonrailproductions704‬ ventured out to the steam railroad institute out in Owosso, Michigan. throughout the weekend we would chase the Pere Marquette 1225 along the Great Lakes Central Railroad trackage to Ashley, Michigan. We ended up meeting up with ‪@ATrain4014‬ and his crew throughout the weekend. We also met some more friends as well.
The Pere Marquette 1225 is known famously for being the steam locomotive of The Polar Express movie directed by Tom Hanks.
Unfortunately due to copyright issues the SRI have to call their train the North Pole Express. To me this is the polar express. The Polar Express is one of my favorite railroad movies. It's also my favorite Christmas movie as well. It was amazing for me to mark this steam locomotive off my bucket list.
After the first run on December 16th, We discovered that 1225 had a hot bearing issue which caused it to run back to Owosso tender first without the train. Chasing the diesel leading the train back to town, we got ready to film the 1225 at a place called Baldwin. We then discovered 1225 wouldn't run the night run due to the bearing issue.
Since I didn't throw it in the video. I want to thank the steam railroad institute, and the Great Lakes Central Railroad for making this trip possible.
