Actually, if you read the gospels, the disciples didn’t stop having problems and it wasn’t like they didn’t matter…..in fact, Jesus helped the disciples continuously, and he made it about them. Yes, we are to give our lives to Jesus, but that doesn’t mean that everything stops in our lives and we don’t have to fix things and try to overcome some other areas of our lives.

Oh man, my family went to Elevation in 2011 for 8 months. We NEVER read the Bible so we didn’t realize what an unbiblical church this was. The leaders were not pastoral at all. They were untouchable and Steven Furtick had a body guard! It was run like a well oiled machine. They had a whole video production crew that would make top notch documentary type videos to show the congregation how blessed they were to go to such an amazing pioneer church! I remember in their Elevation documentary, Steven Furtick saying the inspiration for the name of their “church” came from being at a U2 concert and hearing the song Elevation! I remember pulling into the parking lot and an attendant ushering me into the VIP parking spaces. Then the ushers clapped for us as we walked in and then there was a live DJ in the entry way, playing some beats. I felt like I was in twilight zone BUT my flesh liked all the attention. They would give stuff out all the time too to get you to come back and they prided themselves as radical givers! If you followed their model of sowing/giving, you would be blessed like they were! Everyone was always dressed so hip and they said they didn’t want their buildings to look like churches, they wanted them to blend in with the culture. I look back now, and thank God He got us out of there. The focus is very man centered and the worship of their leaders. Thanks for exposing them for who they really are Colin. My family is truly enjoying your videos and sharing them.

My kids and I started attending Elevation in 2019. I was baptized in 2020. The experience the gentleman listed below me was very similar to ours. I adored that church. My kids did too. When everything started shutting down, so did they. And I had a thirst. So I found pastors I would listen to on the radio in the morning to and from work. They’d mention another pastor and I’d check them out too. They lead me to John MacArthur and Charles Spurgeon. By the time Elevation was back open and wanted us back, God had already opened my eyes to the kind of church it was (seeker focused) and that I needed more. I remember even praying about Furtick, because I had heard things from my believing family members about him and his ‘mega church’ I prayed that their heart was really in this for Jesus. They have kids too, they can’t be in this for themselves. But they’re not in this for Jesus and the gospel. So that lead me to ‘who else are they in this for then but themselves.’ Looking back, that’s a very secular church. And it’s what A LOT of people are looking for. That’s why I now see it as so dangerous.

If I never recognized that I’m a wretched sinner, what would be the purpose of my needing the sacrifice of my Lord, Jesus Christ? Billy Graham defined the meaning of the first beatitude, “when we come to God, we must realize our own sin and our spiritual emptiness and poverty. We must not be self-satisfied or proud in our hearts, thinking we don’t really need God. If we are, God cannot bless us. The Bible says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6)." Be blessed, Colin

For any women who feel like they are less than men because we aren't supposed to teach, please remember that our lives are not about glorifying ourselves but only God. It's not about us. Church is for learning and God made it clear that He wants Qualified men to teach. Emphasis on qualified. Teaching is one type of ministry and there is so much more to the life of a christian. We must stay humble and remember that God has no respect of persons. He is not making men better than women or women better than men. We are to do our part for His kingdom and for some it is to teach, others to street preach and some to use their resources to help those in need. Ministry means service and a minister is a servant. We are all to partake in ministry. So find your ministry even if it isn't teaching.

It is really nonsense to think and say that women should not teach/preach. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that The Lord God or The Lord Jesus Christ forbids a Christian to evangelize to others. So I met God alone isolated and in a form of captivity and we walked together awhile as God built my faith and freed me. It was awhile before I was ready to even join the church but I was so excited when the moment came, like a wide eyed kid. I had been reading the Bible as I’d been taught and I was just....ready to go find Paul and Peter and join in the choir....but....I kept walking into these amazing churches and looking around in wonder at the amazing buildings and the people and I’d go find a front row seat grinning ear to ear....only to have God walk me right back out over and over. It was so heartbreaking. I was too young to even understand it, only that I had read the Bible several times by this point, since I’m an avid reader to begin with, and something felt very wrong I couldn’t even explain being so new to the faith, only that I knew God kept saying no, not this one. Even when one looked promising and I stayed awhile, well, I still had to walk out. It was so discouraging as I learned how lost the majority of churches really was. I kept thinking, what happened? But God kept raising me up and I kept walking with Him and I started to understand more how satan works....and decades later....I can only say I’m horrified by how bad it’s gotten.

The church building is where followers of Christ can gather to each bring a word, a spiritual song, an edification, encouragement, rebuke, and for fellowship. The church of Christ, His body, is called, commanded, to go out and preach the gospel to all the nations, lay hands on the sick and they shall be healed, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers, in Jesus' name. If we tell people they are "loved and accepted" in their own stories, own mistakes, own baggage, own mistakes, own secrets- we deceive ourselves and worse, we deceive them. People who don’t know Christ will watch your videos and see man the church of God is in error, I’m better off in the world. Wow, how can anyone with even a basic understanding of the scripture not see that what Elevation Worship is doing inside their services is wrong on so many levels. Notice that I didn’t call it a Church. As a born again christian I associate the title “church” with facilities that actually teach about the trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and how it directs and/or impacts our lives as we live on the earth during our lifetimes. “Feeling Good” has never been a requirement or a promise of getting eternal life in exchange for our faith in Christ Jesus. You can look at how the Apostle Paul, Peter and others died to see that they were not Feeling Good in their end of life experiences and about their ultimate death’s. Yet they still performed their assigned tasks as directed by Lord Jesus and ultimately their rewards in Heaven will reflect their sacrifices made on this earth. What we do during our lifetimes will be remembered at the Judgement Seat of Christ, all of it.

I do not think sin-shaming someone is the way to go. And if they are coming to church, they are already realizing their need of a savior. why bash them about how bad they are. Not really Parker. He is pointing out false prophets in which Scripture tells you to be aware of. He’s making the world aware. Can’t get more biblical than that. It’s crazy how many people follow Elevation and are lost. Furtick cares more about getting a fresh fade every week and making sure his photographer gets a perfect picture of him for the Gram than he does preaching the real Gospel.

Of course even God Himself didn't care about any of that He damned Judas all the same. Their core 12 beliefs sound more like a cult than a Christian church. I've never went to any Sunday School where I was told our Pastor is a "visionary we must defend" I mean that sounds more like what Jim Jones or David Koresh might have made their members say. Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Non-denoms, etc are all hardly united and if you want some universal church it's called Catholicism and feel free to go there. Thanks for sharing bro Collin. Sadly this is the new move modern churches are flowing in. I went to one church and mostly every sermon was grace and how much we are loved. So many people walked away from the church and lost faith during the 90s and early 2000s bc of give doom and gloom messaging that often portrayed God as unforgiving, unloving and eager to punish and destroy you. But we are tasked to go out and spread the Good News. Jesus’ ministry was heavy on grace, his sacrifice, the prophecies, the condemnation is finished for those who are in Jesus Christ- And it is helping so many folks encounter and truly learn God’s heart posture towards us- what is wrong with helping people understand grace when many of us grew up in a world where condemnation was the only language our parents knew? If Jesus had condemned all those he walked with- rather than forgiven, corrected and given grace: how many would have actually stayed?
@vladtheinhaler8940 Жыл бұрын
@BlahGirl You seem to have a distorted understanding of the Gospels. We are to spread the Gospel, that is correct. However, this sugar coating the word of God in order to make people feel good is not only heretical, but dangerous.Furtick’s own Bible teaching relies heavily on pop psychology, motivational platitudes, and feel-good directions for building one’s self-esteem. The “believe-in-yourself gospel” is wreaking havoc on the church, especially in women’s ministries. This false gospel says God wants you to be happy, you are enough just the way you are, and it’s up to you to reach within to make yourself successful and satisfied.

@brution20002 жыл бұрын
The church has been in trouble since the rebellious movement of the 1960s. Marriage has no order any longer and neither does the church. The church is simply where the home comes to worship. Men no longer lead the homes and will eventually stop leading the church. What's worse is that the church does not even support biblical marriage, which falls in step with it no supporting male headship in the church either. My pastor's daughter got up on the church and spoke about how she was breaking barriers being the first woman to preach in a pulpit at another church. This perversion of scripture is going to lead to homosexuality as the next step in the church.

So many churches nowadays believe that women should be pastors and I don't understand that. Their main justification is that "the times have changed", however, if you view the Bible as inerrant, that shouldn't matter, but secondly you see the clear theme throughout the entire Bible about the proper order, even in Genesis. It is very clear that man is to lead that women should not preach to men or mixed audiences. Even at my woman's Bible study opening service. A man preached the word to all of us women, which, if you were to tell that to any "progressive church" they would say, "how dare they chose a man to preach at a women's service". I do think women can teach other women in particular settings, of course.
